Remember McConnell's statement at the podium in the Senate...that their main goal is to prevent Obama from getting a second term? Then they set about blocking or refusing to vote on any legislation from the opposing party. Even when the Dems accepted numerous amendments from the Republicans (who then refused to sign the bills that were amended for them).

Now they're refusing to have hearings on the new S.Ct. Justice nominee(s), preferring instead for the country to go without one of the justices. Yes, they've been deadlocked for some years, now.
