Or any other city controlled by Democrats.

He is not even thinking about sending troops to cities controlled by Democrats in Republican-led states. So much for his dedication to fight crime. Five of the leading cities with the most crime are located in Republican-led states.

Axios reports, "Trump doubled down on his threat to send the National Guard to Chicago. Trump says he wants to use the military presence in Chicago to fight crime, homelessness and undocumented immigration.

There are several reasons why Trump will not send the military to Chicago.

At the top of the list is Trump's obsession with headlines. He loves to be controversial. He makes threats, writes boneheaded executive orders, and continuously tells us what he is going to do on a daily basis. He yearns for camera time.

It is not what Trump says that is important. What is important is what he does.

Trump's troops besieged the people of California in June. It was a public relations disaster that should never be repeated.

Washington D.C. is controlled by Congress. It was easy to assert control of D.C. because the federal government already controlled it, although arming young soldiers confused with their mission could be a serious mistake.

Sending armed troops to our cities is inviting disaster. Is Trump that stupid?

Our military swears its allegiance to our Constitution, not the President. The military does not have to obey an unlawful order.

Trump will not be sending troops to Chicago because it is illegal.

It is called the Posse Comitatis Act.

The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law signed on June 18, 1878, by President Rutherford B. Hayes that limits the powers of the federal government in the use of federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States.

That's gonna come as a surprise tot ht 2000 NG personnel that were sent to California a while back.

The national Guard is ill-equipped to handle law enforcement.

If Trump was really concerned about crime, why doesn't he send in federal agencies that are trained and have the tools for law enforcement such as the BATF, FBI, and ICE?

If Trump was really concerned about crime in Chicago, why isn't he coordinating efforts with the governor and mayor?

Answer, because Trump is a bad President. All he wants are the headlines this is generating because his world peace efforts have been a disaster, and then there is the Epstein thing that won't go away.

I absolutely agree.

To the bolded:
I told my room mate yesterday.....Go ahead, send the NG into Atlanta and see how many innocent NG soldiers die for NO reason.....other than federal government overreach at it's worst. I lived near Atlanta for 50 years. There are places in this city NO ONE without a death wish goes at night........NO ONE.

Sandy Shanks - This is illegal.

Trump Administration - So. See you in court.

Crime is not a political issue, it's a poverty and education issue. How about getting on the same page to combat it rather use politics to exacerbate it?? If Americans could ever figure out how to work together what a wonderful country it could be.

Its been 12 days since the last murder in DC. I can see why you libs would hate to see that level of success repeated in dem cities.

Crime is not a political issue,
Tell that to Trump. He made it a political issue.

Poverty and education are political issues. But they are difficult to solve so lazy politicians like Trump like to resort to headline grabbing violence as their supposed fix. The big trouble is that the violence fixes nothing. It just pushes the poverty and education issues underground, or to different places until the violence is removed. You don't fix poverty driven crime by making it harder to see. You fix it by addressing the causes of poverty. Unfortunately that reality is beyond tiny maga intellects.

When you have armed troops walking the streets of a city, crime is certain to go down.

Is that what you want for our cities?

it IS political when it comes to refusal to prosecute by Progressive DA's and letting out recidivists over and over to commit more crime

It's a damn shame voters in the big blue cities just vote Dem/ Democrats know they don't have to be accountable
and still get re-elected

Why would crime and poverty and poor education be issues in states and cities run by democrats for generations?

Was with you to there. It is no different with Republicans....no different at all.

article is 5 days old
For the first time in a long time, D.C. has gone seven days without a homicide. Carjackings have decreased by 83%, robberies by 46%, car thefts by 21%, and overall violent crime is down 22%.

Why would crime and poverty and poor education be issues in states and cities run by democrats for generations?
Because they are exceedingly hard issues to fix when the federal govt who control things like taxes and a lot of core welfare stuff, changes direction every 4 to 8 years. These things require multi generational fixes, not 5 minute media headlines.

the tendency is to just vote party -true. But cities like Baltimore and DC haven't had anything but Dem mayor since 1967 (Balto)
I was poor and lived in inner city Baltimore years ago, and the hopelessness is something that is a difficult cycle to break
Generational poverty becomes the norm. People just give up and tend to accept it -so politicians have no need to work on generational poverty as well

Sure. So how many more generations of failure until you turn liberal enclaves into the safe, clean, prosperous places you claim you can create? Democrats have run DC forever and its one of the most violent capitals on Earth. Chicago hasnt had a republican mayor in over 90 years and they are rejoicing at only having 500 murders in the last year. Do you think you libs can get a handle on things by 2125?
