Musk: we will make government super efficient and cut spending by $2T

Trump: I am going to shutdown government unless you remove debt ceiling (because it'll clearly be an obstacle for my upcoming administration)

Any righties out here care to reconcile these 2 positions?

It is an interesting question. What's the over/under on how many months before Trump and Musk have a very public breakup?

"vs"? Musk owns the rapey felon.

The trimming of the current appropriations bill was a good start, as was the decision to not expand the debt ceiling. SO far, the DOGE influence is on point. SO much work to do though.

Considering Trump isnt yet president and the appropriations bill only takes us to March, we'll see what kind of work gets done when Trump takes office. If they wait til mid March to start working on the funding bill, every one of the politicians in congress should get voted out.

In hopes we can avoid doing the budget the way its been done over the past 10 years. Wait until a few days before the deadline and produce 1500 or more page document no one has time to read. We have to pass the bill to know whats in it. He doesn't want to go into office with a new deadline only months away.

It looks like he's attempting to first get rid of the some the fat in government. Lead by example. I don't believe that will come close to balancing the budget but its a start. I hope for all of us we're not fooled again. I blame the debt on Republicans, Democrats and the American people. We've tolerated and even rooted on obscene wreckless spending with no regard for the future.

I don't see those two positions as mutually exclusive.

In other words, it's not Trump vs Musk. Musk is part of Team Trump.

btw, Trump didn't say that he was going to shut down the government. In fact, Trump doesn't have the power to shut down the government...yet.

I posted this on the other thread:
Trump want the debt ceiling issue addressed now vs. later. The only way he can force that to happen is to take the position that we should get rid of it and then to negotiate to where it should be. Nobody wants Trump to pick an arbitrary number out of thin air and have him stand on it. The whole policy should be negotiated between all the stake holders and something logical and reasonable should be worked out (for once).

Republicans delight in chaos. That is why they wanted Trump to be our next President. It is no secret that Trump breeds chaos.
No thanks to the Republican President-elect and his boss, Elon Musk, with help from Democrats, House Republicans were able to pass the C.R.

There will be no government shutdown.

No wonder Trump Republicans avoid this thread. Republicans are pathetic. They can't govern.

They can't even govern themselves.

I agree Musk is looking to get rid of fat in the government. I don't think Donald realized that included him when he went to bd with Elon.

Trump and Musk are both Democrats fyi. Don't let the ticket Trump ran on fool you. Trump is a blue blood NYC Democrat. Musk is Libertarian Left.

The rapey felon has been bought and paid for by Musk.

There are more young people living at home today than at any point since the Great Depression.

There are more homeless than ever.

Prices are higher than ever. For everything. Especially for housing. People can afford only a fraction of what they could afford a decade ago.

Credit Card debt has hit a record high. So have student loans. And car loans.

Savings are the lowest ever.

The rich are buying everything they want while the Middle Class are doom spending. The poor are not spending at all because they have no money.

Obama handed Trump a great economy. Trump handed Biden a shit economy. Biden has not been able to undo all of Trump's destruction, that's why Biden is catching blame for everything wrong. Now we have the Tsar Bomba-in-chief himself, nation-destroying nuclear warhead Donald Trump coming into office in a month ready to resume annihilating what he wasn't able to annihilate his first time around.

Buckle up, you chumps because your life is about to get hit by a Cat 6 hurricane come January 20.

Oh yes the latest talking point you're repeating here.
