They thought they were giving him the mandate to wreck the government. They didn’t appear to stop to think that the US economy is regulated by the government, and wrecking the government also wrecks the economy.

They have a 2nd grade-level of knowledge about the role that government plays in an economy, and that's probably being generous. They don't understand how that there's a lot of private enterprise that wouldn't exist without government spending. I would never submit that this alone is a justification for spending, but if we're going to slash spending, at least consider the consequences.

MAGA/DOGE is the most reckless use of power I have seen in my lifetime. I don't think there's an equivalent in American history, either. There will be consequences. Of that, I am sure.

Righties won't care if they see grocery prices go up, in fact, they won't care if they go WAY up.

Here is why:

Only three things matter to Righties.

1. Turning on Fox and seeing a steady stream of black and brown people being rounded up.
2. Owning the libs. No matter how much it hurts them, the glee they get from owning the libs is worth it.
3. Sticking it to the Canadians.

A more shallow, empty, simple-minded group of people don't exist. And if any of you have ANY doubts how shallow, empty, and smiple-minded they are, keep reading and notice the reactions to THIS comment.
 
Agreed. Moving fast and breaking things works in for-profit businesses. The worst consequences are layoffs. It doesn’t work on massive economies, and the consequences of that can be utterly catastrophic.

That is sort of true. The problem is that the MAGA fanboys don’t really understand how things work. They imagine that Trump does. Since admitting their ignorance, or taking the time and effort to correct that ignorance is out of the question, they just heap blind faith onto Trump.

They cheer deregulation because there are too many regulations. They don’t know, and won’t listen, to explanations about how the regulations got created in the first place. Imagine RFK with the same attitude towards Government as he has towards vaccines.

The Fanboys deride education. So Nobel Prize winning Economists who say this is a bad idea are just group think liberals who don’t “get it”.

These same Fanboys believe in one thing. One thing only. That is hatred of the Left. The Left is variously defined. And you’ll notice that it is anyone who disagrees with whatever idiocy they are talking about now. They have no other core belief. It is all hate.

The denounce aide to Ukraine saying we should take care of our own first. Then when Medicaid is cut, they scream we can’t afford to pay for some poor persons medical.

Argument A has no bearing on Argument B in their world. And that is where we screw up. We assume that logic will work. We assume consistency and rationality will work. It won’t. It isn’t based in hate.

Republicans are on the hot seat now. They control all three branches of government and were voted into power with promises to fix the economy. However this plays out, it will stick to them.

Some doubt is healthy. To be wary is usually a wise course of action. However this doubt, and wariness needs to be a starting point not a finish line.

I do it. We all do. I am still doubtful of String theory. When I first heard about it I was dubious. It is a well known fact that Einstein’s theories work for gravity and planetary science. It is equally well known that it doesn’t work in the Micro Universe. The effects we call Quantum.

The math for A doesn’t work for B, and vice versa. So I felt that String Theory was the effort to bridge the gap between the two. I understand there has been some progress. But I’m still not sold, it still feels sort of desperate.

I don’t denounce those studying it. I could well be wrong. I’m not a physicist. I can’t do that math. I have no idea if it is right or not.

That is not what MAGA does however. If it sounds messed up to their limited experience it is. Anyone who says different is lying. They just “know” better than those who have the education and experience.

I hope so but I know a MAGA that will deny it to the end and blame Biden. So there are probably more MAGA's that will do the same.
