Oh, and there's also this. They want 14 air traffic controllers there and they recently had 3 scheduled to work.

It's embarrassing to have what has been one of the world's most important airports in arguably one of the world's most advanced nations crippled like this.

It's indicative of how our politics is broken. We can't even agree to fix infrastructure because politics is treated as a zero-sum competition.
Biden passed an infrastructure bill. Trump and Musk are running around throwing monkey wrenches into agencies and systems they don't understand. RFKrazy is running true to form. Hegseth's a disaster. It's a mess.

What happens when you elect a clown?

It's a disaster decades in the making. Infrastructure funding and fed hiring is woefully below where it should be, which has been a problem probably going back at least 20 years. Republicans do deserve the overwhelming majority of the blame, IMO.

Actually the correct answer is .............. expect a circus.

Correct. My only concern - and maybe this is just my ignorance - is that Mayor Pete had 4 years to at least start the work on upgrades to critical infrastructure, and it doesn't get much more critical than upgrading the nation's critical aviation systems. It's like how we were going to provide all this infrastructure for EVs and we ended up with like a handful of charging stations out of it (if I remember correctly). I know it's not entirely his fault, but I wonder what happened.

But to your point, yes, things have gotten much worse recently - for obvious reasons.

It that anyone here will care, but here’s the rest of the story.

“With all the delays at Newark, my wife had to do an event, and she was in the city of New York, and so I did. I moved her from Newark to LaGuardia, not for safety, but because I needed her flight to fly, she had to get there,” Duffy told lawmakers during a House Transportation subcommittee hearing.

Correct. It’s better than just providing a partial quote. Context used to be important.
Newark is having massive problems. He's the dude. He re-routed his own wife and then gave an excuse.

Pretty smart really.

Yep, and he’s acknowledged the issues and is working on them. I have no evidence the reason he gave is false. Do you?

Could that possibly to avoid delays since those are plentiful at Newark? But you go ahead and jump to the worst conclusion that you can.
Yes, because as we all know, when the goal is to have 14 air traffic controllers and you only have three it's not really a problem.
