President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he's considering a federal takeover of the local police force in Washington, D.C., and that he might bring in the National Guard to help handle crime in the city.
Trump's remarks went further than his threat Tuesday to take federal control of the nation's capital after a well-known original Department of Government Efficiency staffer was assaulted over the weekend.
And yet all of this crime is happening under his watch but he'll find ways to blame others.Trump threatens to take over DC police, might bring in National Guard

Can’t say I’m surprised at this:

The question is why do democrats have a problem with law and order, actions and consequences? Every day we wake up to hear about more violence in our country, most of it in our larger cities. It seems that time after time the perpetrators are given little to no punishment and placed back on our streets to commit more crimes. We can debate whether crime is up or down but one thing for sure, the judicial system has taken a soft on punishment position for years. The result may be that violent crime shows to be down but that's an illusion of the practice of downgrading serious crimes to lesser offenses. In the process more and more Americans are harmed while the criminals walk free and thumb their noses at our police, our judicial system and the law abiding, hard working citizens they terrorize.Trump threatens to take over DC police, might bring in National Guard

The dysfunctional local government, led by Mayor Muriel Bowser and the D.C Council, controls the police force.
Concerns about data and reportingDC crime is down substantially this year over last. Trump just wants to play tough guy .
Yeah and Trump is a beacon of truth.....Concerns about data and reporting
Incomplete Data: The FBI's crime statistics exhibit inconsistencies and gaps, which can be attributed in part to the shift to a new reporting system (NIBRS) and the failure of some agencies to submit their data, as reported by The Marshall Project.Underreporting by Victims: A considerable number of crimes go unreported to law enforcement, with estimates indicating that merely around 40.9% of violent crimes and 32.5% of household property crimes are brought to the attention of the police.Police Discretion: The practices of law enforcement, such as the determination of which crimes to document or the prioritization of certain crime types, can significantly impact the statistics that are reported.Prosecutorial Discretion: Prosecutors possess substantial discretion in their decisions regarding whether to initiate charges, the specific charges to pursue, and the management of cases. This discretion, especially in relation to minor offenses or through tactics such as "overcharging" (where charges filed exceed what the evidence supports), can influence crime statistics.Political Influence: Elected prosecutors may encounter pressure to adopt aggressive charging strategies to project a tough-on-crime image, particularly during election periods. In contrast, some progressive prosecutors have enacted policies aimed at decreasing mass incarceration and addressing racial disparities, which may lead to the non-pursuit of certain minor offenses or a focus on diversion programs.
Bottom line. Any crime is too much crime and going lightly on offenders doesn't help reduce crime. This is also true of soft responses of juvenile crimes where we see younger and younger offenders who believe they will not be prosecuted.
It really comes down to the prosecutorial practices of the local officials. If the mayor, police, and prosecutor's office are not on the same page and that page is not strong responses to criminal activity, then the citizens suffer. This appears to be much more a problem in democrat run places. The dysfunctional local government, led by Mayor Muriel Bowser and the D.C. Council, controls the police force.

Or when a President pardons a bunch of violent Seditionists. It really comes down to the prosecutorial practices of the local officials. MAGA doesn't care about law and order. They voted for a felon, and support a felon who pardoned violent seditionists and halted all prosecution of those violent seditionists, even employs some. How dare you talk about law and order.
You do not care about that look at the criminal enterprise you support.
Crime has been on the decline so what ever source you are listening to has their own agenda.
Trump is threatening to federalize D.C., but —he’s not directly responsible for the city. D.C. has a unique status: it’s governed by an elected mayor, not a governor or county executive. The mayor doesn’t report to the President. She works with a city council, but ultimately, Congress holds authority over the District. And yet all of this crime is happening under his watch but he'll find ways to blame others.
Is Big Balls the racist? The dysfunctional local government, led by Mayor Muriel Bowser and the D.C. Council, controls the police force.
You need to not experience this firsthand, but only when some right wing rag screams about the horrible violence in the cities.I've been in Alexandria, VA on a business trip this week and have seen more police than homeless. Granted Alexandria is not DC proper, but still. Was in DC close to the Capitol in May and still didn't see much sketchy activity.
