(CNN)President Donald Trump thanked multiple members of Congress involved in passing the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act at a signing ceremony at Fort Drum, New York, Monday, with one major exception: the senator for whom the bill is named.

"We would not be here for today's signing ceremony without the dedicated efforts without the dedicated members of Congress who worked so hard to pass the National Defense Authorization Act," Trump said, namechecking Republican members of Congress including Rep. Elise Stefanik, who spoke briefly and represents the district containing Fort Drum, as well as Don Baker, Dan Donovan, Joe Wilson and Martha McSally.

Trump deliberately failed to mention the ailing Sen. John McCain, who he has criticized in the past as 'not being a real war hero.'

Is anyone else more upset about the constant increases in military spending than Trump's inability to drop a grudge?

Although I can see why some may ask that, however...

Because his beliefs do not align with the Democratic party, or so I would think based in his history of votes and speeches where he's laid out his positions - basically the same reason I haven't switched to the Democratic Party. However, Trump will only be here for what is hopefully a short time - depending completely on what Mueller finds and can prove to Congress.
 


McCain is a backstabbing corrupt establishment pol...after his POW heroism he went downhill faster than an Olympic gold medalist skier.
 

That's one reason why I respect McCain, even if I don't agree with his politics. Despite Trump (for now at least) completely hi-jacking the GOP, McCain still stays as a Republican because the party is closer to his beliefs, even if he and the current GOP president clearly despise each other.

He's not like Donald Trump, who's switched parties so many damn times throughout his life that I've lost count. Trump's just an opportunist pretending to be a Republican, while McCain is a REAL Republican.

Dude, no way. I loathe Trump, but Trump is infinitely more popular with the current GOP base than McCain. Like it or not, for now the modern day GOP is completely owned by Donald J. Trump.

You obviously don’t know what McCain has worked on for Decades, do you? This defense bill simply used Sen. McCain’s blueprints over those Decades you know Nothing about.

As well, Senators McCain and Sanders wrote the last Veteran’s Administration Bill, something this Traitorous Coward couldn’t imagine. This criminally insane liar just signs what’s put in front of IT. He reads NOTHING.

Sure. I am also more upset about our military spending than I am the fact the tire pressure light on my car keeps messing up, and yet I spent more time today complaining about the latter. It isn’t an either/or proposition.
