Trump says he's considering rebate checks for Americans based on tariff revenue

No, Obama does. $8.34 trillion for Obama. $8.16 trillion for Trump. Biden will be over $7 trillion. The point is that it isnt just republicans that add to the debt like the poster dishonestly claimed.
Trump 1.0 did to the National Debt in just 4 years, $8.16 trillion, with him being handed a decent economy, compared to what it took Obama to do in 8 years, $8.34 trillion, with him being handed a blossoming recession.

Which President, Obama or Trump, was worse for the National Debt?

By all accounts it was Trump.

President Obama added $1.04 Trillion Dollars to the National Debt per year in office.

Trump added $2.04 Trillion to the National Debt per year in office before January 20th, 2025.

Let us not forget, President Donald Trump is on course to almost immediately add another $3.6 Trillion to his National Debt number with the passage of his OBBB.

All when he promised to eliminate the National Debt if given the Presidency.

Trump was worse on the National Debt per year in office than Obama, and frankly, it is looking very much that President Donald Trump just might end up worse on the National Debt in 8 years as President than President Obama plus President Joe Biden were in a combined 12 years in office.

President Donald Trump is not in any way going to ever reduce the National Debt.

He just won't.

I wasnt arguing that republicans are deficit hawks, I was arguing against a posters claim the debt is the sole responsibility of one party. But no, Trump annot significantly reduce the deficit nor can anyone else without a fairly massive, across the board tax increase and a reduction in interest rates and spending

Trump could have started by not reducing taxes for the wealthy and thus not added 4T right out of the gate.

He didnt reduce taxes for the wealthy. The bill just made the current rates permanent.

Don't sweat it, there won't be any.

What happened to the $5,000 in DOGE "savings" for everyone he promised a few months ago?
What happen was that the American Taxpayers are no longer having CRIMINAL Politicians launder their Tax dollars !
That's a WIN!

Yeah that's a fun trick.

Republicans: "The tax cuts aren't permanent, so we don't need to worry about the filibuster (which we'll fight like hell to preserve for all other purposes)."
Republicans, 10 years later: "It's not a tax cut, we're just extending the current rates."

When the left cries about tariffs it often goes with how they are being excessively taxed.

Today President Trump floated rebate checks based on tariff revenue.

Trump spreading the wealth among those who need it the most.

Let me understand. Trump is imposing tariffs, basically a sales tax on Americans, then he will reimburse Americans for the new sales taxes they paid. This will help things how?

Why would we need rebates for tariffs that are going to make us all wealthy and are paid by foreign countries, all according to Trump’s claims? Also, he claims tariffs won’t raise consumer prices or cause inflation. We will all have high paying jobs in the rejuvenated American industrial economy that will produce affordable goods. He apparently knows that many fools who salivate when he rings the bell think that meager tax cuts and self serving tariff rebate checks will calm his cult down until they realize that those meager handouts won’t cover the big increase in the cost of living. He will be sure to put his big ugly signature and probably his ugly mug on every check.

That shows you how serious he is and how serious the Republican party is reducing our overall debt.

They're not at all serious.

This country is headed for an outright default. It's just a matter of when it happens and how we decide to react to it politically when it happens. The result will be a currency crisis that crushes anyone below very wealthy individuals or households.
