In a post on his Truth Social site Sunday evening, Trump wrote that, “For too long, America has been plagued by vicious, violent, and repeat Criminal Offenders, the dregs of society, who will never contribute anything other than Misery and Suffering. When we were a more serious Nation, in times past, we did not hesitate to lock up the most dangerous criminals, and keep them far away from anyone they could harm. That’s the way it’s supposed to be.”

“That is why, today,” he said, “I am directing the Bureau of Prisons, together with the Department of Justice, FBI, and Homeland Security, to reopen a substantially enlarged and rebuilt ALCATRAZ, to house America’s most ruthless and violent Offenders.”

Sir Spends-A-Lot at it again. What a ****ing moron. This was closed decades ago because even then it was crumbling, and supplying the prison was hella expensive since everything had to come over water. Well no one has ever said communists were smart.
 
Besides being costly I highly doubt the prison could be expanded and made ready within Trump's term in office.
There were reasons why the prison was decommissioned.

Want to eliminate some waste. Stop this crazy idea.

The place is an island. Imagine the cost of staffing and supplying it on a daily basis.
 
Trump is so ****ing stupid.

Alcatraz closed in 1963......sixty one years ago. It closed because it was inefficient and there were more secure prisons elsewhere.

Furthermore, it is a historical landmark and a tourist attraction that gets 2 million visitors a year.

Trump is dumber then a box of rocks.

No potable water. Everything has to be brought in by boat.

Read a report years ago that supply cost was one of the reasons to shut the prison down. That was 60 years ago.
Another was maintenance. The structure was starting to have issues due to age and exposure to the ocean environment.

It's a museum now, bringing in tens of millions a year. Presumably there's some Fox-inspired "because **** CA, that's why" red meat for MAGAs is shithole red states.

That Alcatraz is crumbling is a good thing. Well, for a prison anyways. Besides it shouldn't cost too much the keep the locks tight and the bars strong. Plus, the use of balls and chains should keep the guests resistant to trying to swim away.

They could use the 'guests' as the labor for whatever work was required to revamp its ability to keep them in where they belong. I'm sure the 10 cents an hour they'll be paid will be greatly appreciated.

That it would cost too much to feed them because Alcatraz is an island seems ludicrous on its face. Even more ludicrous when analyzed. It's just a few minutes' boat ride from Fisherman's Wharf, SF, to Alcatraz - just one mile. San Quentin is further than that, and nobody's whining about the cost to send food there.

Of course, there's the one unavoidable reason to oppose re-opening Alcatraz. ORANGE MAN BAD!!!!!
 
i wonder how long it will take for a trump minion to attempt some convoluted "defense" of this stupidity...or will they just be totally absent, since even they can't defend this immense moronic idea
