Just completed my two hour call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia. I believe it went very well. Russia and Ukraine will immediately start negotiations toward a Ceasefire and, more importantly, an END to the War. The conditions for that will be negotiated between the two parties, as it can only be, because they know details of a negotiation that nobody else would be aware of. The tone and spirit of the conversation were excellent. If it wasn’t, I would say so now, rather than later. Russia wants to do largescale TRADE with the United States when this catastrophic “bloodbath” is over, and I agree. There is a tremendous opportunity for Russia to create massive amounts of jobs and wealth. Its potential is UNLIMITED. Likewise, Ukraine can be a great beneficiary on Trade, in the process of rebuilding its Country. Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will begin immediately. I have so informed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, President Emmanuel Macron, of France, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, of Italy, Chancellor Friedrich Merz, of Germany, and President Alexander Stubb, of Finland, during a call with me, immediately after the call with President Putin. The Vatican, as represented by the Pope, has stated that it would be very interested in hosting the negotiations. Let the process begin!

It means that Putin told Trump to go **** himself, but Trump is "putting his best foot forward" Art of the Deal style aka lying his ass off.
 
we'll see. I dont think either party is really interested in negotiations , because both countries bottom lines are undoable
However the 2 did agree to a prisoner exchange last week -without the USA being there

well they want ice water in hell too/ I imagine the USA could do some shuttle or back up if needed.
But US led talks dont work, because the 2 play to the US And not direct negotiations with each other.
I mentioned they worked out a prisoner exchange in Turkey last week all on their own..no Peace Prize for Trump..lol

It means he is saying he would lie now, and/or later, depending on his mood.

That's how it has always been throughout history. Some kind of deal always precedes a ceasefire.

Exactly. Negotiations have always preceded ceasefires throughout history. Parties in conflict have to agree on the conditions of a ceasefire before agreeing to one. A question that both sides have in mind is always: what happens during the ceasefire. The obstacle to a ceasefire then being a side may suspect that the other side may use the ceasefire to improve its situation.

I generally think Trump is making progress. Each consultation brings a ceasefire closer. It was gonna take weeks. The sooner both sides started talking, the better

Trump is a useful idiot being controlled by right wing radicals who want to turn America into another Russia or Hungary style government with a right wing authoritarian dictator/"leader" in power that the lemmings must never question or have any type of dissent.
