The difference is that Trump will have the "most fantastic" cure. Also, that he is lying.
I've watched several people die of cancer, this **** is not funny and Trump (or anyone) is an asshole to platform on promising to cure it.
The way I read it, Trump is talking about research.
To be clear, i think it's a good goal to have. No matter who is President. That's not the point.
Biden was ridiculed by the Trumpettes for making thst goal clear, and now their guy is doing it. What's the actual difference here?
Maybe he should start talking about his "most fantastic" healthcare system since he hasn't said much about it other than "who knew healthcare was this complicated?". It would help having a system to make his cancer cure affordable.
If I had to guess I'd say neither Obama nor Biden spent any of their own money searching for cures, either.Well since Trump has joined the bandwagon, why hasn't he cured cancer before? Surely he could have built the most beautiful, magnificent, cancer-cure-finding facility ever with all of the billions he supposedly has. Seems like a waste spending money on all those failed ventures when he could have been curing cancer. What a waste of money. SAD.

Any cures announced? The actual difference is that ...
After losing his son to cancer, Joe Biden
- launched Cancer Moonshot initiative while being the Vice President. The federal government ended up authorizing $1.8 billion to fund the Cancer Moonshot initiatives over the next seven years -- funding which is still ongoing
- later on, he created Biden Cancer Initiative with goals to "develop and drive implementation of solutions to accelerate progress in cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, research, and care, and to reduce disparities in cancer outcomes."
Meanwhile, Trump (aside from apparently being fine with his offspring criticizing Biden's cancer comment), CUT Cancer research by a billion while in the White House.
Any cures announced?

Blessings on your wife that she recovers completely.
Nope, anyone making big money in the medical industry doesn't really want a cure. Big Pharma would love to see a 50 thousand dollar PILL that can put it in remission, maybe after 300 thousand dollars worth of regular doses, the for profit hospitals would love to see a 50 thousand dollar test to go along with the 300 thousand dollars worth of pills.
But in the end, if you're making big money in healthcare, you want remission and symptom management, not a CURE.
And that's why focusing on profit alone is anathema to wellness, anathema to medicine itself.
It's like private prisons...if the crime problem goes away, they're in trouble.
Trump promises to cure cancer if re-elected
Only shared because all the righties laughed when Joe Biden said it. Now Trump says it. Funny.

(Yes, I made almost the same post in the thread regarding Joe campaigning on it.)

Why cure something that a drug company can just keep you coming back for more medication to control whatever? Control equals profits, cures equal a profit margin that will disappear.

Finish the gaffe!!
"Now, I have to tell you, it's an unbelievably complex subject. Nobody knew health care could be so complicated."
And WHY DID nobody know? Because if Trump didn't know, NOBODY could have known! If Trump doesn't know something, it is UNKNOWABLE! :lamo

Actually, no I wasn't. I was responding to a poster who made that implication. Try to keep up.And you're implying that Donald Trump is going to dip into his own pocket? That is the funniest thing I've heard in years!

Somehow I see too many people playing game trying to protect the Democrats to keep the light shining on Trump. He did nothing wrong here, he mocked a guy that needed mocking and was fair game as a candidate. That had zero to do with cancer patients.
Yeah, no one could have known. Not the people working on it, not doctors, not experts in the field. Absolutely no one.

Are you familiar with how Joe Biden's son died?
Do you think he has a personal stake in 'curing cancer' or is he just saying stupid stuff so Trump and his minions can mock him?
Well depends on whether you think he's a common politicians spewing rhetoric. He personal stake shouldn't cause him to make a promise he doesn't know he can keep. Promising tax cuts only requires votes in Congress that you can blame on others if it fails. Promise to cure a disease is science; make a promise like that without consulting anyone first is stupid. People count on those kinds of promises, but everyone accepts tax cut talk as just talk.
