First, this did not cause the accident in Washington D.C., but it certainly could lead to many more such accidents as well as make us less secure. I read an article that said in May of last year we needed 3,000 new air traffic controllers and in December od 2024, an article mentioned that 1,400 would be retiring this year. With air traffic at a peak, how long can we maintain the system safely with a hiring freeze. Doesn't this president have any people to help hi with these executive orders and their consequences? And fewer TSA agents mean less secure airports. I am just glad I have no plans to fly this year.

His next actions have to be to unfreeze ATC hiring and to direct the DOT Secretary to take all possible measures to deal with the risks associated with airport congestion.

Well, that will turn out well.

ANY suggestion that Trump's attempt at hiring freeze may cause more accidents is purely driven by TDS, Trump "hatred", Liberal lies, woke ideology.

Let's be clear about this: ANYTHING Trump wants to do is ALWAYS in the interest of Making America Great Again. ANY criticism of Trump is verboten.

HIrings have been frozen to aid in redetermining where priorities should be. For instance, the needless hiring of 88,000 IRS officers to pursue tax evasion which fell more than 80% towards the middle class after Joe promised it would only be used to find tax cheats among the super rich. I think he lied and it's obvious.

Most make accusations of things they know little to nothing about.

The goverment is just larger than it should be. Trump is just taking the steps to downsize or more accurately right-size it. There's going to be flux, turmoil and Federal workers will be stressed. But that's something that everyone in the private sector has already been through. The end results is we want a goverment than lean and highly efficient. This is the first president in my lifetime that's taking the necessary steps to make that happen.

Stop that logical thought on this forum.

Lies, of course.

How's that been working out?

President Musk demanded that the head of the FAA resign early. Whitaker and Musk clashed over SpaceX.

Hiring freezes are often the first step in restructuring and improving the performances of staff which may be misused, misplaced, poorly qualified or poorly trained. A review process to find deficiencies and clean them up so that further poor performance and/or waste of funds and manpower can be addressed. They are generally short term and allow for better application of resources both current and future.
Of course the left is going to just blame Trump for any and everything right down to jaywalking and spitting on the sidewalk. Losing the election doesn't seem to have given the democrats any more common sense, professionalism, or sense of purpose other than to "get Trump".

What a load of crappola.

We have almost 90 years of data. Federal employees have never represented a smaller share of the workforce than they do now.

I agree. Most do. Think about what you just said ;)

Why is it MAGAns keep telling the same lies over and over again even when they've been thoroughly debunked multiple times? It's like once you hear a lie and believe it, it's no longer a lie.

Yeah, case in point being your claim that Biden hired 88,000 IRS officers to pursue tax evasion.

The truth being it was not all IRS officers/agents, it was all employees agency wide including support staff, IT department etc, and was over a ten year period taking into account things such as retirements.

Please don't give facts and details to those who prefer their rightwing fed theories.

Why does goverment have to scale up with the total number of workers? They just just contract out to the private sector and how many people does it take to manage subcontractors?

Don't worry - We don't air traffic controllers or TSA.
Airplanes fly themselves and people will have to learn to be honest if they are carrying a loaded gun or bringing a bomb on the plane.
