There will likely be resistance within the DOJ, and I suspect a fair number will threaten to resign...which is just fine with the MAGA White House. Makes it harder to prosecute drug trafficking and things like that, but I guess they just suspend habeas corpus and hold people in detention centers for undocumented immigrants (and political opponents that end up there by 'mistake').

I'm not shocked at all.

Doing this is pretty much essential for one side to gain and to retain dominance in all important political arenas. (I am surprised at the speed with which the trump Executive Branch is grabbing power, but doing this so quickly makes sense: you overwhelm the opposition and any remaining checks and balances. Plus, you normalize these kinds of anti-democratic, pro-dictatorship actions re the base and, eventually, for most of society.)

That Republicans are working toward eliminating any and all significant opposition has been apparent for a while now. That the GOP base wants this is also evident.
