Trump seems to be in a fight with Mother Nature as he has rolled back (or in the process of doing so) of 84 (so far) federal environmental protection laws that were put up by prior administrations to protect our environment.

84 Environmental Rules Being Rolled Back Under Trump

By NADJA POPOVICH, LIVIA ALBECK-RIPKA and KENDRA PIERRE-LOUIS UPDATED Aug. 29, 2019

President Trump has made eliminating federal regulations a priority. His administration, with help from Republicans in Congress, has often targeted environmental rules it sees as burdensome to the fossil fuel industry and other big businesses.

A New York Times analysis, based on research from Harvard Law School, Columbia Law School and other sources, counts more than 80 environmental rules and regulations on the way out under Mr. Trump.

Our list represents two types of policy changes: rules that were officially reversed and rollbacks still in progress. The Trump administration has released an aggressive schedule to try to finalize many of these rollbacks this year.

ROLLBACKS COMPLETED ROLLBACKS IN PROCESS TOTAL ROLLBACKS
Air pollution and emissions 10 13 23
Drilling and extraction 9 9 18
Infrastructure and planning 12 1 13
Animals 8 2 10
Toxic substances and safety 3 2 5
Water pollution 4 3 7
Other 3 5 8

Total 49 35 84

Details of what he has done specifically are outlined in the article!

This is all about money for the rich that damages the environment we live in. How will this help our world when we get rid of the few benefits that Mother Nature is still offering to protect our world?

Guess what?
If you don't like Trump policy, Mr. I have never voted, time to get yourself to the polls in 2020.

Does your post mean you approve of his fight against Mother Nature and the roll back of protections given by other administrations?

Where in the US is our environment damaged?
EPA studies show air quality better than ever.
The increase in our population impacts the amount of pollution.
What has changed over the last two years.

Nonsense. Trump is not fighting against Mother Nature.

Where do you come up with this stuff?

Trump is too ignorant to know anything about that, and too greedy to care.

You don't suppose he can't see the woods because all the trees are in the way?

Trump loves Mother Nature because 'she' created the coal in the earth that he will pull back EPA regulations in order to dig it up cheaper and make more money from it. Trump loves Mother Nature for her beautiful remote forests teaming wildlife because he can sign an executive order taking away the protections given to those forests by former presidents in order for his wealthy corporate CEO's and loyal donors can strip away the forests and drill for logging and oil. He loves Mother Nature when he withdraws EPA regulations that require the safe containment of toxic coal dust in lakes and it seeps into beautiful rivers, lakes and streams.

There are more than 80 environmental rules and regulations on the way out under Trump. These Trump environmental rollbacks could significantly increase greenhouse gas emissions and lead to thousands of extra deaths from poor air quality every year.

Funny thing is that Nature don't care about anything, but we can't live without Nature - going against environment is always suicidal.

This is always going to be an issue as the human race fills the planet and exceeds the resources. There are always people wanting to use land and resources for their own benefit, to profit from it. We either limit them, or we don't. Nature has no vote and no say. And the people often affected by the harm have little to no say as well, while wealthier people do.

We used to have more democracy - when the people could demand protecting the environment - but the pressures don't let up to harm it and we're now a plutocracy where the people get little say. The next generation has no vote and no say, either. This is an incredibly irresponsible generation, when it comes to people who vote for Republicans and their destruction. We'll see if Bernie can win enough people over to fight the corrupt.

Saying it's all about money, doesn't actually prove that it is all about money.

What has changed over the last two years.

You should do some research before you make uninformed comments

After decades of improvement, America’s air may not be getting any cleaner.

Over the last two years the nation had more polluted air days than just a few years earlier, federal data shows. While it remains unclear whether this is the beginning of a trend, health experts say it’s troubling to see air quality progress stagnate.

The Air Really Was Cleaner Under Obama
Pollution is up nearly 14 percent under the Trump administration.

Nonsense. Trump is not fighting against Mother Nature.

Let's be more specific. Trump is fighting against those that are trying to protect Mother Nature.

Did you read the entire article and all the environmental protection programs he has already shut down and is in the process of shutting down?

Saying it's all about money, doesn't actually prove that it is all about money.

It is easy to assume that because the environmental protection program he has shut down or is in the process of shutting down only helps the companies reduce their costs and improve their profits.

Can you go down the list of the 84 programs that have been shut down or in the process of being shut down and show me one that doesn't monetarily benefit some company?

I don't care if the programs actually benefit a company. My problem with many of the programs enacted by Obama, was that they unnecessarily strangled businesses, and were at most times redundant when compared to others that already existed.

I can only think of around 8 things that he was actually working to achieve, that weren't already covered by our existing programs, and most of that was helping to push international policy.

So you do agree that they are being closed because of profit.

So then, I would again suggest you go down the list of 84 programs that are being shut down that will not hurt the environment, where they were unnecessarily put up. For someone that evidently wants to protect and support Trump's ideas, this should not be a problem, should it? or are you just filled with empty words?

Quietly, apparently paying no attention whatever to the storm of words going on in the world of men, the glaciers continue to melt away and the average world temperature and sea level continue to rise.

...many of the programs...were at most times redundant

I think it's probably not even fair to say Trump isn't an expert of the subject, since presidents should delegate (I think we've all heard him talk about how clean coal gets washed off). But he has an attorney for Murray Energy (largest coal company) as EPA head, after 1 year on the job. W had a guy who was 25 years in the EPA running it.

Aren't both having a massive conflict of interest and not knowing what you're doing big liabilities?

No, empty words are attempting to attribute motive for someone's actions. Even if a direct reference is completely absent.

I'm more than willing to say that some of these businesses will actually profit from some of the regulations being pulled back. But only for the virtue that they were being strangled by the to begin with, for what was possibly unnecessary reasons.

However, I'm not going to play that this is the sole reason for this being done. Because we've seen from the very beginning of his bid for the presidency that this is one of the things that he wanted to do. Yet speculation on why he's choosing to do so, has run rampant.

I don't care for speculation.

I have no issue with that. After looking through what was offered and him being cleared for the position. I'm fine with his place at the EPA head.

Simply attributing motive without any actual cause is not going to help anyone make up their mind.

Thread title: Trump in a fight against the environment.

Trump is actually in a fight with himself. Wakes up about 11:00AM, chows down a Big Mac and proceeds to punch himself in the face all day every day. His loyal hordes think there is some plan in all of this....but there is as much plan as there is a generation of kids playing Rockem-Sockem Robots.

The Environment, Farmers, Immigrants, Allies, just plain ole' folks are just caught up in the blizzard of left hooks and right crosses Trump aims at his own head. No wonder Melania keeps her distance and most particularly keeps her son at a distance from Wild Orange Man.

Hopefully Trump will drop himself with a well placed left hook in the 11th round. Then we can go about the business of recovering from this mess while his loyal hordes go through withdrawals.

His great diet. I am going to teach my kids to eat the same so they can be as healthy as he is.

Would you rather have the economic hardship the regulations passed under Obama would have brought?

You mean not drive around in a monster SUV, and instead have clean air and water? Yep. Well worth it.

Sadly a lot of people don't give a **** about their children or grandchildren, and only care about themselves, and what they can get. Unfortunately they have biblical values.
