Trump extends China tariff deadline by 90 days

If the point of that Tariffs is to get manufacturing back and lower the trade deficit, why would they need to be put on hold?

If there's a clear plan, why is all this necessary?

Trumpists.

I know you won't admit it.

But this ****ing idiot you support:

Doesn't know what he's doing.

Trump didn’t hold back on secondary sanctions on India for buying Russian oil, not a peep about China.

China has something the US needs, and can't do without. That will take a few years to change.

Until then the US has to play reasonably nice with China or see its military procurement grind to a halt as it runs out of materials

India on the other hand has very little in the way of critical exports to the US that can't be sourced elsewhere. So it gets hit, while China doesn't

What will "change in a few years"?

It's even more insulting to see reporters asking questions in a dignified, respectful, statesman-like manner, knowing he's going to respond with total disrespectful idiocy. It's a charade to treat him in a stateman-like manner. He's not a serious person.

He's not a serious person.

That's key to all this.

The Trumpist movement is one mired in ignorance and stupidity.

They're not serious people, they have no actual understanding of issues, their logic goes nowhere beyond bumper sticker slogans and solutions or denying that problems exist at all such as climate change.

He's simply a reflection of the lack of civic duty and seriousness within the body politic.

People are uninformed and stupid and they produce leaders who reflect it.

I mean just go into that thread about him deploying the NG to Washington DC.

They're bad people dude, bad, bad, bad, stupid people.

I'm ****ing done man, we're in trouble.

Trump again said today that we're taking in money from China with the tariffs. Why are we pausing getting even richer?

I'm not sure I fully agree, or even agree at all. But, I gotta' admit you presented as close to a reasonable defense as possible.

However, that still doesn't explain-away Trump's claim that exporting the chips is a national security risk. They're either a risk, or not.

It's just pure resentment. Everything flows through their resentment.

Wasn’t TikTok also a national security issue? Hardly hear about that any longer.

Well said, and I very much agree.

IMHO it's a miracle the country is still chugging along with the sheer amount of incompetence, blatant disregard, and self-serving and even nefarious intent placed into leadership positions.

Of course four years is a long time, and we have three-and-a-half years yet - to go.

There will be a price to pay for that.

There will ABSOLUTELY be a price to pay.

It's coming, that I can promise you.

It is not a national security risk, it is an attempt to keep the Chinese economy from developing faster than the US in key areas.

The Negative was that it was providing incentives for China to develop its chip industry which given a few years would likely be 1 or 2 generations behind TSMC.

Which is why the US reopened AI chip sales to china
