My goodness what a complete idiot they must think him. All of these Arabic leaders are extremely well educated usually in American or British Universities. They speak fluent English. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in GB. These men are sophisticated, educated and well traveled they see him for the boor he is and they know exactly how to play him to get what they want. Trump's obsession with wealth and all things gilded is probably the biggest national security threat to the States and I am dead serious.

I think the concept of groceries is one of his dementia tics. It's like my grandpa telling the same stories over and over and over.

Context is important here. Remember, Donnie Boy did not grow up like the rest of us who have been using the term "groceries" in reference to the items we normally buy from our local grocery store or supermarket. Since Donnie Boy grew up in a household where those items magically appeared in the pantry, it's easy to understand why he would think this is an old fashioned term. An inquisitive young Donnie Boy might have asked how those items were made available to him, but it's likely he was a simpleton and transactional back then as well, so the only thing that mattered was that what he needed was there be it by magic or some other process.

Oh yeah, and for the reasons you just mentioned. Maybe Donnie Boy thinks his hosts are some backward people because their leaders still dress in their traditional garbs, but to your point, these are very well educated people. Your average person is going to think his comments about groceries are absolutely idiotic.
