Trump exempts phones, computers, chips from new tariffs

What are you talking about? PR brags, like Foxcon?

Did any of these brags result in even breaking ground, much-less reach production?

You present Trump's words as if they're certainty, and we know they're the farthest from.
Wait, why would we expect differently from an MAGA? Quite literally, their only job is to take talking points, issued to them by Donald Trump or the conservative media and simply repost and repeat them as truths again and again. @anatta is only following orders. What else should we expect?

Im not going thru each item. you can goggle them like i did These are all new committments, or tariffs
we have to extend the Tax cuts, deregulate, and yes spend the CHIPS money. other then that I am not a crystal ball either

My suspicion is this is an intentional hustle on Trump's part.

LMAO!

I thought I was making points by comparing the Administration to SNL.

You've go ne one further. Well done!

I can respect this.

I don't do social media. None. Just not my thing. I prefer privacy.

But I did join DP one night, and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lately though after recon'ing some Trump media sites, I'm finding myself with a desire to interact with MAGA.

It might be interesting to see how they react if I present unassailable counter-argument in a reasonable & respectful manner

I really think that there’s no way Trump granted any exemptions without getting something out of it, correct.

Bingo!

Exactly. They've self-sorted.

probably depends on the board ( the reaction). Ive settled here because at least we can get into a discussion without it being de-railed by the 3rd post.

US Messageboard is my other go to -pretty evenly divided

What an idiot. One of Trump's many rationales for this trade war was that we needed to reshore our electronics production for national security purposes. Do we no longer need to do that?
We need to take away the president's ability to impose tariffs.
That worked reasonably well in the past, but it rests on the assumption that the president isn't a mad king. Let Congress control this instead. The legislative branch is far too weak anyway.

Ya' think?

Wow. There's so much excellent content here, I don't know where to start. Thank you!

I'll just touch on a point directly to my earlier post:

While the world may appear to be "looking for neutrality", I believe the world's nations - including our allies - will be exploring trade with China in ways they hadn't previous to Trump's chaotic disaster.

Trump is taking advantage of emergency powers which are statutory. Congress needs to revoke all acts and statutes that delegate emergency power to the president. Congress can assume this responsibility itself.
Agreed. It sucks because it will probably slow down the response if we have a genuine emergency, but I guess that's just what happens when the voters elect a child. That's a better outcome than letting Trump do whatever he wants.

I wouldn't put much thought into this. It will definitely not occur in the first half of Trump's term without doubt, and is unlikely to occur in the second half.

Lol...liberals complain about tariffs....and then complain when there's less tariffs. The mind of a TDSer is a funny thing.
What is funny is how you just make up shit to deflect from your gods **** ups

How could you have possibly have come-up with this take-away?

One of the U.S.' biggest mistakes was not pursuing IP protection early on. The genie should have been capped from the get-go.

China was paying at least 70 billion a year in licensing deal, US companies made a ton of money doing business in China.

Heck gm survived the GFC because of it Chinese operations

what did his "negotiating" accomplish?
the other side thinks he is being "generous"? prove that. I would think the other side is thinking he is a chaotic economic moron who was convinced he made a mistake.

- 125% tariffs on American exports to China

- U.S. farmland becoming cheap

No.

We should have taken this directly to China decades ago, when they were developing and we were the biggest game in town.

We let it all get away, and now it's either too late - or much, much, much, more difficult.

We had no diplomatic relations with PRC before the 1979. There was no trade, no travel, no diplomacy. Similar to currently with Cuba.

The time to sort this out was when we opened them up to us. It was up to us to call the terms.

Well said.

the only way the money isn't spent is if Commerce (whatever) has "too small a staff" to do so ( if i read that correct).

You guys dont want Medicade expansion touched
-so what cut DO you want?

I never said I wants cuts. The only cuts I know I want for sure, is clear-cut fraud.

I'd like the budget difference to be made-up by taxing the wealthy, not cutting citizen services.

How’s that safety worked hereabouts?

I'm not going to make that assumption of Anatta.

But I can say many see Trump say a bunch of bullsh**, and they believe it as a done deal. It's all presented ceremoniously and officially with pomp & circumstance, and often with many officials, corporate chieftains, and dignitaries in attendance.

I used to post the Foxcon videos as a point, but now only do so on certain occasions. But to watch those videos makes it all appear fait accompli.

Commitments?

Is this the new,

"I have concepts of a plan"?

I can assure you, like Foxconn - not one of the recent announcements have resulted in even one shovel of dirt moved.

At this point it's all words, until I see action.

When you show me physical action, I may consider accepting your claim.
