He is scared of criminal prosecution so he is saying this.
He has spent 5 years calling for violence.

Plus, it's nothing but a nod and a wink to "his people."

But yet Trump still did not discourage his extremist followers from assembling in Washington. only this time please not be so quite violent and destructive this time. :rolleyes: He didn't say for them to "stand down" and he still hasn't made any public statement recognizing that Joe Biden is the rightfully elected next President of the United States. He merely did the absolute bare minimum, if even that, to actively defuse the potential danger of further violence in the days ahead. Which I'm sure he would probably love to see.

They vandalized monuments in Washington, including the Lincoln Memorial, the World War II Memorial and the Brigadier General Casimir Pulaski statue in Freedom Plaza.
