Trump calls his promise to end the Russia-Ukraine war on Day One 'an exaggeration'

It never changes with him. It's the ONLY response he ever has. I have tried to point out to him his use of whataboutisms makes his contributions rather lame. But this is how a lot of Righties roll.

Rightwing debate tactics:
1. Accuse everyone of Trump "hatred" and TDS.
2. Try to change the subject by using deflection and whataboutism.
3. When cornered, resort to snide remarks and insults.
4. Pout, and claim that this site leans too heavily towards the left (there is even a thread posted whining about us being a leftist echo chamber)
LOL!
This is what you do when you debate, you compare and contrast things. What did you do, what are we doing, which is better. Democrats never want the supposed 'deflection" because is shows how damned bad their politicians an policies are. Additionally, if every left winger on DP did seem to be hating on Trump's every move, we wouldn't say you "hate" Trump and suffer from TDS, but you all seem to.
Snide remarks and insults? A think you seem to be confused with truth and facts. Sometimes facts hurt feelings, and the left is full of hurt feelings.
Pout and claim this site is heavily left. Well, once again facts and the truth seem to hurt the leftist feelings.

Surely you aren't trying to claim DP is heavily left leaning? I mean, most folks have their political leaning on their profile and mostly I see, liberal/Progressive or once in a while some real left leaning comments by those claiming "other". I think they mean "an-other". liberal.

Today, from David Ignatius:

Trump’s road to failure in Ukraine

"The sad truth is that peace in Ukraine is probably more distant today than when Trump took office in January. He started with a sensible plan for European leaders to take over responsibility for arming Ukraine. And he warned Putin hours after his inauguration: “I think Russia’s going to be in big trouble” if it doesn’t make peace.

...This long exercise in diplomatic frustration culminated in Trump’s Monday phone call with Putin. Trump issued an upbeat statement after the call, claiming he had launched a phase of direct negotiations toward a ceasefire (as Putin had demanded). “The conditions for that will be negotiated between the two parties, as it can only be,” he said — even though only a few days before he had insisted that he and Putin alone could stop the war. “Let the process begin!” trumpeted Trump, as though he had achieved a breakthrough. The Russia statement dispensed with the bubble machine. Trump “shared his position on the cessation of hostilities,” it noted coldly. “Eliminating the root causes of this crisis is what matters most to us” — code for Ukraine accepting Russian hegemony. In four months, Russia hadn’t budged.

...Sometimes diplomatic history is ambiguous. But the results of the Ukraine negotiations are crystal clear. Russia, the aggressor, has refused to stop fighting until it gets what it wants. And Trump, the attempted peacemaker, has so far let Putin get away with it. Unless Trump finally delivers on his threats, he has folded his hand on what could be the most damaging failure of his presidency."

What do you think you are defending?
Not defending, just making the point that as much as the left is crying that in 100 days the war isn't over they seem not to mind that the war started under Biden and he didn't get any progress in stopping it. Russian invaded Crimea under Obama, because he was anti escalation and did nothing, and under Biden for eht same reason, he was perceived as week. The end result was an escalation on conflicts in Ukraine.
No matter how you cut it, it's a democrat created problem and Trump's trying to bring it to a close. All the left can do is whine.

Got to be the dumbest thing I've seen on this topic. Biden didn't even negotiate with Putin, didn't even talk to him. To say we are further from peace after years under do nothing Biden and 3 months of Trump just verifies how blind some people on the left are.

If we discount your contributions.

Have you even addressed the topic?

The dumbest thing you've seen on this topic is the idea a US president thinking he could end the conflict in 24 hours. I know it's hard to admit, but that one takes the cake. The problem with previous attempts at negotiations is Putin did not give an inch and made absolutist demands. Now here we have in Trump someone who stated his relationship with Putin would be useful and hat had not proven out in any way to be true. Putin has made the US leadership look weak, because the US has given up its negotiating leverage (military aid to Ukraine) and Russia's done nothing at all since it continues to press its attack. What has the US gotten out of its discussions with Russia in terms of a ceasefire and actual negotiation? Bugger all.

There is no negotiating with Putin. He doesn't want peace. He wants Ukraine, and more.

Are you saying the Democrats put Putin up to invading Ukraine? The only point I see you making is blaming Obama and Biden for what Putin is doing. I don't recall biden saying he was going to end that conflict but trump did. So again, what are you defending by trying to blame biden and Obama instead of what came out of trump's mouth?
