Trump asks Supreme Court to shield financial records from House Democrats | TheHill

President Trump has asked the Supreme Court to shield his financial records from the Democratic-led House Oversight and Reform Committee, in the latest case to bring questions over separation of powers to the justices.

The case marks the second time Trump has appealed to the high court to prevent the disclosure of financial documents and sets the stage for a potentially groundbreaking ruling on the extent of congressional oversight authority and presidential power.

The second time? Looks like he has something he wants to keep hidden from the Democrats.
 

I'm quite sure Trump has a lot to hide, but after the way they botched the impeachment stuff, I kinda doubt there is gonna be much ground here
 

If the Republicans take the house, they will be impeaching Nancy Pelosi. Do you want their tax records public?
 
Trump is not a private citizen. Transparency comes with the job.

I have a couple really simple questions.

1) Trump has been a lawful Tax Filing citizen. I am 100% sure he has filed his taxes to the IRS every year during his legal life, as if he did NOT we would know about it by now.

2) If Trump has done illegal business, the IRS and the FBI have his Taxes they would have been able to find and link his Taxes to criminal acts by now.

3) I AM 100% sure he has been audited at least once in his life, the same as I guarantee Steve Jobs, Larry Ellison, Bill Gates have all been Audited. THEY ALL have an Army of accountants to keep their Taxes in order. 2 things in life you cant avoid Death and Taxes.... IF BY NOW the IRS has NOT sent Federal charges over to the FBI after ALL these years..... What crime do you think he committed by holding his taxes.... Seriously What do you think the Dems would find that the IRS has NOT had in their possession for 40+ years?



Trump is TROLLing on his taxes. He is going through the legal motions to resist an unlawful attempt to circumvent his legal rights. thats all nothing out of the ordinary........Just that Dems what to check his PL statements and Schedule C's so they can say he was using false deductions or falsifying records based on the smallest of claims.

Im sure people have written off a round of golf as a promotion rather than entertainment, Im sure people have written of Business equipment as golf clubs and tennis rackets. This is the stupid BS that Dems are trying to look for... NOT $10million from Russian in the form of houses and cars.... because the IRS Would have SEEN it by now....FFS ....
 
It must have cost Trump millions of dollars up to now paying lawyers to fight the release of his returns, so we could all assume there's some things in there that would be devastatingly damaging. I don't think that even Hannity, Carlson and Ingraham could figure out ways to get him out of the jams that the release of his tax returns would embroil him in. I mean it's bad, really bad.

Trump's lawyers have been to the Supreme Court two days in a row to block the demand for his returns. A lower court has already ruled in favor of the SDNY getting their hands on it and Trump's lawyers want that rule overturned. They're asking the Supreme Court to reverse every lower court judgement and I'm not sure the Supreme Court will do that and if they do actually overturn previous federal rulings, it's pretty much a given that Trump's two Supreme Court appointments are working for Trump, not the United States.
 

I only counted 1 question - I'm sure he's guilty of at least small crimes on his taxes, but that's all they need to go after him(period) Reason enough in my mind to protect the documents considering Pelosi's embarrassing speech today(period)

I suspect, based on character and my opinion, that there are bigger crimes there, but they will never be proven by the idjits in congress making a mockery of the impeachment process right now, so I'm okay with letting IRS go after him
 


Are you saying the IRS is incompetent?


If so, perhaps it's time we do something about them.

You say Trump is doing this to hide something? I have posted prior, and will say again, Trump has filed taxes all his life IRS has his taxes for years yet he has never been referred to the FBI by the IRS..... I wonder why?


ok PART 2 you make a GREAT point.... an EXCELLENT point, he has paid his army of lawyers and accountants to resist these demands. There are 2 likely reasons.

1) I can agree that he might be hiding something

2) (of course he can afford it) BUT he is Proving a point and sticking UP for the people he Represents. NOT to be pushed over with an Unlawful request. PUBLIC citizen's DO NOT have to submit their Taxes to anyone without a LEGAL cause. Trump is NOT accuse of ANY crimes. SO why does he have to submit his taxes IF there was a crime he committed relevant to his financials and a lawful subpoena is issued, he can either comply or appeal.

WHAT CRIME warrants the disclosure of his taxes to which the IRS which has it and has direct communications with the FBI has NEVER filed a federal charge against Trump at this moment.

3) Trump since 2016 (2017) Has been under CONSTANT Audit as required by the constitution. And NO IRS charges have been filed....



WHAT do you think he is hiding? OR is he just sticking up for the American people that realize and agree.... if I am NOT lawfully required to submit.... Than stay out of my CRAP. I have the money so I will fight and SHOW the people that just accuse needlessly and unwarranted that you are legally able to fight back.


WHAT crime is he accused of that requires his compliance?

They won't, heck they will be lucky to hold onto the Senate. I doubt she would go to the SC to hide her records.
 

Or he is simply exercising his constitutional rights. Why are you against this?

Wrong, trump is still a private citizen and does not give up rights simply because he is president.
 
I wouldn't give the pig liberals anything the way they've treated Trump these first 3 years.


Just another witch hunt by the nickel head club who hasn't figured out yet that the IRS is the agency who looks at tax returns and determines if there were any crimes committed.

Trump already released his tax returns, wiped out the national debt and rolled out Trumpcare.

He's a honest adult.
 

It'll be an interesting decision. Supposedly congress and the presidency, administration are co-equal branches of government. So does one co-equal branch have oversight authority over the other, while the other doesn't have the same power over the former? I realize the oversight authority comes from the implied powers of congress although not mentioned explicitly in the Constitution.

So we shall see.

Goes to show that when Nancy Pelosi says it's all about the country, the constitution, patriotism and not politics, she's fos.

This thread has to be an error, Trump told us he would be the most transparent president ever. Of course he also said Mexico would pay for a wall that he has yet to build.
 

In fairness of of how complicated his taxes may be.... Im sure there are SMALL errors I am not sure it would constitute crimes, possible fines and back taxes But doubt full and federal statutory crimes warranted of "Impeachment"


YET that is the GOAL find any "dirt" they can. That being said AGAIN the IRS specializes in the work, WHAT would the Dems find that the IRS couldn't? You say there are bigger crimes, WHAT could it be. I mean seriously its easy to hurl accusations, But kinda hard to prove when nothing lines up.


THE IRS HAS HIS TAXES they are ON him.... Yet he has never been accused or charged with a serious financial crime.... (Compared to Manafort or Cohen as an example) IRS has his Taxes....what more is needed?
