Trump asks Supreme Court to let him fire Lisa Cook from Federal Reserve

WASHINGTON − The Trump administration on Sept. 18 asked the Supreme Court to let the president remove Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve board in a major test of the central bank's longstanding independence.

"This application involves yet another case of improper judicial interference with the President’s removal authority," Solicitor General John Sauer wrote in the administration's emergency request.

Cook's attorneys argue removing her would risk "shock waves in the financial markets that could not easily be undone."

Trump is probing the limits of his executive power, including over agencies designed to be insulated from political influence.

If the Trump Supreme Court goes along with Trump to this degree, there's going to be devastating effects for our economy. The Supreme Court is his final weapon in any court dispute.

Well the last time this question was brought up before this Court, they ruled that yes the Law prohibited the President form doing this, but enforcing that law would harm the Administration's ability to Govern and cause confusion. Because you know, the Law just doesn't mean what it says, and if it does actually mean that, doesn't matter that much in the grand scheme of things.

He can only dismiss her "with cause".

Since her firing, evidence has come out that she did not engage in fraud. Therefore, Trump has "no cause" for firing her. Sorry Trump, but...

Before Trump, in the good ol days, "cause" was needed for a removal from the Federal Reserve's board. Right now, the only thing I found wasn't interesting enough to involve law enforcement.
The interest rates she paid were both slightly above market average and that removes the lie about motive. No one has accounted for the different codes or laws in different jurisdictions, and that leaves the question of illegality completely unanswered.

All they got against her is trump said so.

I'm pretty sure that even if he believes she engaged in fraud, that will have to be investigated and indicted before she can be fired. That has never happened to the best of my recollection.

This is no different than the NY AG. The did investigate her, and the prosecutors (Trump prosecutors) said not enough evidence to indict.
On to the next BS prosecution.

trump did almost everything but literally stand up and shout "I want her removed for purely political reasons so i'm making up this BS to try and justify it".
if scotus doesn't reject his BS, they will be hitting a new low
