The Jan. 6 rally comes after two earlier Washington protests in November and December failed to save the election for Trump or stop his campaign’s nearly perfect record of courtroom defeats. But the protesters’ mood ahead of the Jan. 6 protest has turned even more desperate. Trump diehards from across the country have organized their travel to Washington on “The Donald” forum. One of the hottest topics on the site is how protesters can bring guns to D.C., which would count as a local crime in nearly all circumstances under Washington’s strict gun laws. Others have talked about breaking into federal buildings or committing violence against law enforcement officers who try to stop them from storming Congress.

“I’m thinking it will be literal war on that day,” one popular comment posted last Wednesday read. “Where we’ll storm offices and physically remove and even kill all the D.C. traitors and reclaim the country.”

And about a dozen Senators (and probably more) will vote to contest the election results.

I predicted about a week ago that House Republicans would object but McConnell would keep Senate Republicans in line. That prediction did not age well.

I do not think there will be a dozen Senators that do so. I am better it is no more than 6.

Well, regardless of how many end up going through with it, the Republican Party is determined to carry on with this "Raahhhr....we're so crazy....rahrrrr" thing for as long as possible.

Could you imagine the reaction of Trump and his clan if the Dems had pulled this stunt based on Russian interference....which, unlike this debacle, actually happened!!!!! What they are doing is unconscionable and sets one hell of a precedent! How self servng .

Look at it as a sort of valve. The GOP will allow a few senators to go 'rogue' as long as the consensus stays the same. Those that contest are just grandstanding to shore up their Trump credentials because they've been trading on his name anyway and need the support. The party can allow some steam to be blown off as long as the engine keeps chugging - a small nod to the cult to say, "Hey, we haven't forgotten you," before moving on.

Not other than the cheating in Texas and Florida that caused the states to mysteriously turn red the night of the election that the conservatives don’t want to investigate. Also, we are very concerned by the number of House contests that went to Republicans in states that Biden won. This is a clear statistical anomaly and we need a clear and transparent investigation into those House races and the massive fraud that clearly took place there.

Why do you think all house & senate democrats are silent on clear republican cheating in Texas & Florida all the while their cheating is being highlighted ?
Wouldn't pointing out cheating on both sides instead of just one make the whole issue more likely to go away?
Why not point it out then ?

They actually have been trying and I have read the affidavits and the transcripts. They are easy to find and you can check them out. The problem is the fake news doesn’t want you to know about what really happened in Texas and Florida so the truth is being buried. And for some reason you have been silent on it as well, but I’m hoping that after you read the sworn affidavits you also will join me in an investigation into what happened in rural FL and TX that evening.

Not at all. The republicans want to sow distrust in the electoral process by claiming "massive fraud." It is a well-known axiom that if you repeat a lie often enough, more and more people will believe it. As the complexion of America changes, republican and conservative candidates will be at more and more disadvantage. Their response it to discredit the democratic process, to make people believe that their vote doesn't count and that they do not impact the outcome.
 
i wonder if he'll take it so far that they'll have to escort him out. that would be very damaging to the country, but so are a lot of other things that he has done.

Because it's local-level crime that did not affect the election. They are matters for local officials/law enforcement to deal with.
