Nothing to see here, just a foreign country openly bribing the president. Again, I must say that the openness of this man's corruption is just so refreshing!

I think this may be the huge announcement he teased during his meeting with Carney. How much is it going to cost to modify it with all the specific security and communications gear required by Airforce One? Where is DOGE and the Ethics Committee when you need them? Trumpers won't care, they excuse him everything. They have no red lines.

I would bet good money that the new jet is going to be a security and communications sieve. I can't think of anyone in his circle who has the knowledge, smarts or patience to make sure the job gets done properly. Maybe Elon but you know he's sneaking something on there if he does it.

The Air Force will do the modifications. Do you think the U.S. Air Force has the "knowledge, smarts or patience" to get that job done properly? I do.

Very interesting that this is very recent:

Modifications to the plane aren't the issue. In the private sector there area all sorts of policies and rules setting limits on precisely this kind of thing because of the ethical practices considerations. Do we think a foreign government giving a president this kind of gift makes sense when in the private sector it would be a big no-no?

The reason this kind of act is looked down upon in business is because it creates a potential conflict of interest for the recipient of the gift, and establish the possibility of a quid pro quo. This particular situation is problematic from an ethical perspective because it is a gift specifically for the current president, and not a gift to the nation. According to the article, it is for Trump's use until shortly before the end of his term. This should raise eyebrows.

The delays on delivery of those planes have been crazy - delays of many years and, even if they roll just one out in 2027, that's still a delay of many years.

I think the quid pro quo may have already played out.

Any potential legal issues have been carefully examined. Trump is not being given the gift. I believe the Air Force will take possession first and then the plane will be transferred to the Presidential Library Foundation.

Oh, it will more than "raise eyebrows". That's the nature of 2025 politics and intense anti-Trump sentiment.

Yes he is. It's only for his use, not for future presidents. And then it goes to Trump's library, not anyone else's.

But whatabout Hunter Biden? He had LLCs. Surely an entire plane violates something here, right? I mean, Hunter Biden. Cancelled checks. Bank records. We all saw the show.

Why the change of heart? Does corruption not bother you now?

Always incredible just how blatantly you people are willing to lie.
I think it's more that they believe the lies they are told. I suspect Fox had a segment on this. In no way can a gift of this magnitude for the exclusive use of one President, be considered appropriate. That makes if a personal gift. I can't imagine it's even legal under the emollients clause but then again President's don't have do legal anymore. The fact Trumpers have no issue with it in no way surprises me.
