Trump administration moves to boost homeland missile defense system despite multiple flaws

Spend billions and [fingers crossed] hope it works. Not a very rational modus operandi to defend against a potentially catastrophic nightmare.

well, the US has spent trillion$ on **** that does not work; what's another $10.2 billion? Merry Christmas & pass the Jack Daniels .............

We should have put more money into research, I guess.

Dont try to build it till you have mastered the Technology was Admiral Rickovers America...Long Dead.

This is how we have worked/not worked since Rumsfeld and his "Leap ahead technology" push and "Transformation".....old news.

Rumswiller went before Congress on September 19, 2001 to tell Congress that the Pentagon had no way to account for nearly $2.5 TRILLION ................ WTF?

well, the next day was George W. Bush day & then every Congress person completely ****ing forgot about the MISSING $2.5 TRILLION

Great country U got there ...........................

Bad accounting, bad procurement processes, extremely bloated bureaucracy, an officers corps who failed in NAM, then over a generation largely recovered by the time the Soviets crashed, and then they got repeatedly hammered and so now they are again not very good...and on and on it goes.

We are likely to get humiliated the next time we need to fight a real war....versus nation building or police actions...which we also really suck at.

just ANOTHER demonstration that the US NEEDS to keep track of it's own goddamn backyard & stay the **** outta other's business ...............

Corporate Welfare Queens on steroids. The MIC. Create a real or fictitious enemy, demonize them in the MSM, generate fear, start a war if necessary. You know, this is about big business in the real World. A wonderful fantasy World exists in the MSM with demons and evil, don't ya' know, a/k/a marketing for Military Offense Industries.

An example of how this ICBM paranoia can get out of control is the so-called Russian 'WOODPECKER' or Duga Over The Horizon (OTH) Radar. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duga_radar

This monster was intended to detect incoming U.S. ICBM's beyond the horizon by bouncing very powerful radar pulses off the ionosphere & listening in between pulses for signal returns bouncing off incoming thermonuclear warheads. This thing used so much electric power that it was the main reason for the building of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the Ukraine. Long dead. But if we don't learn from the past we will only repeat it.

Raytheon, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman - all the donor-class corporations that will make a killing selling junk to Trump. The military loves new junk & Trump wants a reason to give it to them.

The problem with any missile defense system is that everything has to work 100% & that level of efficiency is usually not obtainable in very large & complex systems that are, after all, run by fallible humans.

Hey may over the last year I have come to appreciate your post quality:

You R another guy who is abnormally Good:

To be fair, you can’t improve upon a technology unless you try. I am much more inclined to spend money on defensive systems than I am to wage pointless and endless wars around the world.

And 2 B FAIR being fair is a good idea that we all 2 often fail to accomplish anymore.

+1 2 U....Another Good 1 HERE
