What do people make of this?

I'm thinking either he's messing with his flunkies' heads to test their loyalty, or else he's going to sign up 600,000 Chinese students with U.S. universities so that he can pull the rug out the day before the semester starts and hurt their bottom line. Any better explanations?

Someone probably gave him some money to support this.

What is this thread about?

For the most part, the Chinese are not black nor Muslim, so letting them in makes sense.

What is this thread about?
Trump bleated out that he wants to grant 600,000 visas to Chinese students. While talking to the PM of South Korea. :cautious:

As usual, this is one of the few red lines that MAGA racists will not let him cross.

Don't worry, in a week he'll either pretend he never said it, or walk it back while pretending that backing down is Yet Another Victory.

If you figure $50,000 per year per student.

$50,000 * 600,000 = $30,000,000,000

Trump is going to get 10% which means a cool $3,000,000,000 for the Trump Crime Family.

What could go wrong.

The word "this" in the first sentence of the first post is a hyperlink to a story related to the thread title. It's blue on my computer, it might be harder to see on other platforms.

IMO it has nothing to do with "loyalty testing" and everything to do with improving the U.S. economy.

I'm thinking it's a negotiation tool in trade talks with China. Currently (and unfortunately) we still depend on China for imports of steel and will continue to do so unless/until his plans to expand American steel production come to fruition. If I recall correctly, we sell scrap metal (steel) to China, and they reduce it to create new steel in addition to their own steel production.

Trump has been negotiating with many countries to return production of many key products here in the USA. IMO Steel production is one of those goals. That's above and beyond computer chips, computers, cars, oil production, and rare earth metals mining.

I think it's a lazy way to start a thread. and the link has a paywall.

Leverage. Looks like he's doing it as an attempt to thaw US/China relations during our trade talks with them. I don't like it, and hopefully he changes his mind finding a better strategy.

And here I was believing the MAGAspeak truism that every Chinese exchange student was a spy, that all of them report to the Communist Party of China.

It does??? This isn't a Daily Mail Plus article you have to read the source for, but maybe there's some script I'm not running? I see no barrier.

I don't know what to think of it. I don't like the idea though.
Perhaps Fox will help you out with your thinking tonight.

He was talking to the the leader of SK looking for a trade "deal". He probably got confused between SK and China after all they all look the same /sarc
