The tactics are similar to those used by leaders in other countries who have chipped away at speech freedoms and independent media while consolidating political power, including Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a close Trump ally whose leadership style is revered by many conservatives in the U.S.

“What we’re seeing is an unprecedented attempt to silence disfavored speech by the government,” said Brendan Nyhan, a political scientist at Dartmouth College. “Donald Trump is trying to dictate what Americans can say.”

And THIS is why I have been so disgusted by all the people who don't care enough vote, the people who relied on a few Tiktok videos and their feels before switching back to watching cat videos, all the people who said "my principles are too important so I can't do the one thing that would stop Trump", who said "I can't vote for Harris because she didn't convince me" or "I'm mad at Biden for staying in the race" or "DNC DNC DNC", or anything else.

Those people were looking at the future destruction of the United States and all we hold dear, or at least pretended to, and those people decided feeling that they stood on principle was more important than the general welfare. Or they just didn't care about any duty to pay attention and vote for the general welfare.

These are early days. My family and I could very well be rounded up in a few years over my participation in DP....thanks not just to MAGA, but to the people who felt other things were more important than stopping MAGA from a true and full fascist takeover.




I guarantee you that silencing the media is still just part of the beginning.

Well once again you exhibit an effort of the pot calling the kettle black. I.e. mislabeling Conservatives as Commies (Leftists).

In this case the "Media" started the issue, and who owns/controls the Media?

Disney owns ABC, ESPN, and Vice. and was run until January 2025 by Bob Iger. He is also a Democrat. He has been replaced by James Gorman. Mr. Gorman is also identified as a Liberal.

Comcast owns NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, and Telemundo. It is currently run by Brian L. Roberts. He has no declared political affiliation, but he has personally donated more to the Democrat side ($90,600) than to the Republican ($70,300).

Warner Brothers owns Discovery and CNN, and Sir Mark Thompson is the channel’s global CEO and Chairman starting this past January 2025. While he has allegedly given CNN staff instructions to be more balanced when it comes to covering President Trump, it does not seem to be sinking into the News section. Although admittedly, the polling reports are definitely more balanced and therefore believable since he took charge. Also, several overtly biased reporters have been fired, and the remaining do attempt to be less TDS expressing.

CNBC reports, "President Donald Trump on Thursday suggested that the federal government might revoke the licenses of broadcast television networks that are “against” him.

"Trump’s comment came a day after ABC suspended airing the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” show because of comments its host made linking the alleged killer of conservative activist Charlie Kirk to Trump’s MAGA movement.

"Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr earlier on Wednesday had hinted that the broadcast license of ABC — which is a subsidiary of Disney — was at risk if it did not “take action on Kimmel.”

Speaking on Thursday to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said, “I have read someplace that the networks were 97% against me, again, 97% negative, and yet I won and easily, all seven swing states,” referring to his 2024 election win.

“They give me only bad publicity, press. I mean, they’re getting a license,” Trump said, according to audio from a press gaggle provided by the White House.

“I would think maybe their license should be taken away,” Trump said.

No wonder Republicans are silent. Trump is killing their party with his big mouth.

You can be angry and frustrated against all those who didn't understand or care about the threat Trump pose to democracy. Still history show that democracy needs to work for the people or else people will not be interested in defending democracy. So Democrats needs to quickly learn the lesson.

The Democrats haven't been a real solution either, and overall have grown rather inept over the decades. That's one reason for 3rd parties. If democracy needs to work for the People, than it is up to the People to make it work for them. This isn't some "sit back and see how they can serve me" sort of thing. That's how you lose control in the first place.

To bring the main party to heel and force them to work for the People, you have to threaten their power. If both sides of the main party start to falter, then we need to move to third parties and threaten the power base of the main party. If they know that no matter what, we're going to keep voting for them, than they will not care about us.

It's a Republic if we can keep it. It's the duty and the responsibility of the People to keep the Republic. If we grow lazy in that regard, than communists like Trump can get in power and truly threaten the very foundations of our Republic.

In a two party system like the US it's extra important those who control the party. So for example Arizona Democratic party making it harder for billionaires to influence primaries is a step forward. Just like Zohran winning the primary. That also other countries have had the problem of left wing party establishment not listening to members and neither empowering grassroot organizations.

What you forget is leftist propaganda is protected speech. Always has been just as Fox News rightest propaganda. The imbalance here is Trump only going after one side. Trampling on the constitution is going to come back and bite MAGA conservatives.

FY, not all authoritarians are actually Communists. Communism is a very specific form of government where the government sees itself as the result of a post-Marxist revolution, where controls all the means of production in the name of the proletariat. Trump is an authoritarian populist, which is a very different vibe.

Anyway... Yes, a bunch of people on Trump's team have apparently read the Autocrat's Handbook. It's obvious the goal is to seize control permanently, and turn elections into a sham.

Trump is pushing for the same shit that China runs, from a mercantile economy to government ownership of corporations, the same level of concentration of ultimate power in one person, to forced adherence to Party. It's why Trump fawns over the power of leaders like Un and Xi.
