After weeks of President Trump and the White House suggesting there was no quid pro quo when it came to Trump asking Ukraine to launch specific investigations, acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney came out Thursday and admitted there was.

He just insisted it wasn’t a corrupt one.

In a news conference, Mulvaney for the first time conceded that the lack of a Ukrainian inquiry into the origins of the Russia investigation played a role in the United States withholding military aid from it over “corruption” issues.

"I have news for everybody: Get over it. There’s going to be political influence in foreign policy.”

The quid pro quo involved Barisma and the Bidens'. And no Mick, we are not going to "get over it." The DOJ has already sent out a press release to all news outlets. "If there was a quid pro quo, we knew nothing about it"
 

He denied the quid pro quo that you are claiming...that is, against a political opponent.

Mulvaney isn't part of the DOJ and the DOJ isn't part of foreign policy.
 


Our forum compatriots will get over it soon enough, like immediately. The quid pro quo which was "nonsense" and a slander against the integrity of the President until Mulvaney gave the new taking point now will be, "well of course, why not."

Or it involved assistance into the investigation of the Russia probe. That after all, takes up the bulk of that transcript.

Right, but the texts included both issues - the 2016 stuff and Burisma/Biden, and when Trump spoke with Zelenskyy he mentioned both, and Rudy was focused on both.

Trump lemmings might believe the aid issue was just the 2016 server CT and not also the Burisma/Biden issue that was consistently by everyone included as a two (2) point demand, but no one else is that dumb.

Extortion of a desperate foreign government in order to affect the outcome of a political election is a crime.
 
Fun (and weird) fact: despite Sekulow and Barr’s displeasure with Mulvaney’s admission, trump is pleased as punch. Anybody want to guess why?

I think he’s literally enjoying the escalation. Everything that’s happened this week (and especially today) has taken impeachment and ramped up the likelihood of it happening by ten gazillion percent, and he’s loving every minute of it.

Neither is Guliani. In fact, he has no official capacity at all.

But then, why was the Ambassador to the EU doing with Ukraine when we have an ambassador to the Ukraine?

And what about Guliani’s two bag men?

What is their “official capacity’?

What texts? Trump didn't mention politics to Zelenskiy. The Burisma/Biden issue involves corruption. Not politics.
 

What does that have to do with politics? The operative word is "corruption".
 

Giuliani is working for Trump and Trump can have anybody he wants doing work for him. That includes the Ambassador to the EU. Trump can also have anyone he wants NOT do work for him...for example, the Ambassador to Ukraine.

What makes you think the "bag men" were working for Trump?

Now you've peaked my curiosity...why is Trump pleased as punch? It doesn't appear that he discussed it with his lawyers or the AG when he sent Mulvaney out to undermine his whole defense. So why is he pleased?

Gordon Sondland testified in his deposition that Donald Trump directed him to speak with Rudy Giuliani and that he understood that Giuliani was the key to Ukraine policy. He said he felt he had no choice but to work with Rudy Giuliani. It doesn't matter whether Sondland was a willing participate or an unwilling pawn in this scheme, but clearly executing the policies directed by Rudy Giuliani who has clearly stated he was working on behalf of Donald Trump and these policies were to investigate the Bidens and to investigate this crazy DNC conspiracy theory and to have Ukraine do that. How much clearer can it possibly be that the intention was to hold back money from Ukraine in exchange for their cooperation with the investigation of Biden and the DNC? This is highly illegal.

Sondland's opening statement clearly links Ukraine policy to Rudy Giuliani and Rudy Guiliani - if you read his tweets and public statements was very public about advocating for investigations of the Bidens and the DNC. He has clearly said he was working on behalf of Donald Trump and with Mulvaney's statement today we know there was a quid pro quo with a hold on military aid to Ukraine.
 

Trump cannot hire people to use the power of the federal government to conduct his private business.

Rudy was usurping the role of the State Dept.

The Senate did not appoint Rudy to be the Secretary of State.

Just be honest and admit you don't really care if Trump did anything wrong.
