So with the militant anti-guns on the left all blathering about "gun control," and clearly not knowing what gun control is (finger off trigger and in a safe direction
), I think it is important for us to remind each other what gun control really is.
1) Those of us who decide to be responsible and carry in public: learn the legislation. I'm sure that I don't need to remind y'all. This is important for those ridiculous what ifs that the left proposes. If you know the laws you should be able to answer them. I love the what if games because it forces me to learn more laws. So we as proponents of real control...I think what ifs are important. Keep up to date with laws, and more importantly keep copies of the current laws in your car to show the 1 bullet Barney Fifes who may think you are violating.
2) Obviously practice. But try to preach too. Preach safety to those around you. You would be surprised what lessons rub off. My girlfriend just walked me behind a sketchy guy going into the mall...without ever looking to me for a cue. She even pointed it out to me that she has learned from my "paranoia" (our inside joke).
3) Always correct people's safety error and be open to their correction of yours. It is important for us because it is possible to slip up.
All of this is important for us to keep reminding each other even though we all already know it. I just think it is good to preach it to the know nothing's and the newbies. And we can expand the list and think of things we don't always think of.
