Trans Congresswoman McBride: "All they had to do was ask."

At least he is honest enough to admit that he belongs in the mens room.
And that's just where you want her.

*wink wink*

The attack on Transgender is also an attack on individuality, expression of identity, art, music (certainly that's part of the intent). Without acknowledging and allowing for people to engage in gender fluidity and non-conformity, there's no David Bowie or pretty much any 1980s music. Having everyone conform to conservative identity norms reduces our culture to the flavor of plain rice cakes. Who wants to listen to Ted Nugent and Kid Rock? Not me.

Just thought I'd point this out to those who think there's no downside to punching at the most powerless people on the planet. The ripple effect across all aspect of life is profound.

Right but I want a specific condemnation from her about this. Not this "Oh I'm going rise above it". She gets to go to the bathroom, what about everyone else?
I think McBride is playing it right here. She stays calm, cool, and level-headed and the Right will increasingly look more fanatical in their attacks.

This is actually what happened in the 2000s with gay rights. For a long time, the moderate position on gay rights was they had to “tone it down” and stop “shoving their sexuality down the public’s throat.” But what this did was inspire the right to make protecting “traditional” marriage part of their official platform, and with that came a barrage of Right-wing conservatives who made attacking gay people their pastime. At this point, the moderate position began to change from “gay people need to tone it down” to the “religious nuts need to tone it down.” And general public opinion shifted in the same direction.

The right-wing always ends up hanging themselves with these issues. Let them perform their political theatre, and offer measured but firm opposition. The public will usually sway to who they perceive is more “rational” and less emotional appearing.

I'm sorry but I don't believe you on this. I don't believe in the long arc towards justice, I believe in the political framework that enables the far right in the first place to maintain their power and dominance.

I don’t think my point conveys the long arc towards justice, but society’s tendency to pendulum swing. That pendulum is just as likely to swing toward justice as it is toward injustice.

Edit to add: That’s to say, a large part of the population base their political positions on vibes/feelings as opposed to data or facts.

Can you imagine if she is forced to go into a men’s bathroom? She would probably get beaten up but women’s bathrooms have individual stalls so nobody knows what she is.
What I am looking forward to is when a trans man is elected, and has to use the women's restroom per Mace's own legislation.

Yeah, once gays started coming out there was resistance but more and more people discovered they knew gays and that changed everything.

Acceptance of gays has caused the right-wing to move on, more or less, to transgenders. And to their advantage, there are fewer of them, so fewer opportunities for friendly influences. But its the only way.

After all, legal changes haven't brought equality between blacks and whites. Remaining separated has caused this inequality to continue. Its all about hearts and minds.
And it doesn't help when you have idiots like Mulvaney and Thomas going around doing and saying what they say. Mulvaney claimed they were more woman than biological women. Screw that. That is the kind of thing that hurts the efforts more than helps.

This isn't about trans or even Sarah McBride, it's 100% about Mace trying to stay relevant, even if she has to be petty and cruel (MAGA).

Ironically, pink used to be considered the color of males and manliness, and blue a feminine color. Which means that in taking pink as the female color, that has made it a trans color!

You dont need a medical degree to know that your DNA determines your sex. Only leftist science deniers dont understand that.
So what at the sexes of XXY, XYY, XXYY, and CAIS XY?

If we believe the story, which I am skeptical of, the men's allegedly attacked the transgender for using the woman's room. Seems to me transgenders would be safer if they refrained from going into women's restrooms.

So then you don't believe that people should use the restroom of their birth sex?

Since you brought up safety. School girls have also alleged being raped in girls rooms by transgender. Why should we ignore safety concerns when the transgender can simply use the men's room?

Kitty provided the link to the story, and a FOX source at that. Strangely, you provided no such support. Interesting.

My comment is self explanatory.
Meaning that you can't explain it. Just because it seems obvious to you, does not make it so to all. Either you can explain it, or you can't. If the former, then do so, if the later, just admit it.

We can talk about that. But first we have to get it straight that XX and XY are different.
The ironic things is that is not actually in dispute. Now as to what labels apply and what those labels mean is a different matter. Simply because one thing has historically been conflated with another, doesn't mean that conflation is true. The observed movement of the sun used to be conflated with the idea that it is the sun that revolves around the earth.

Also, is XY and CAIS XY different sexes or the same?

That's supposing we are on a predestined path when nothing in politics is predestined. It's controlled by the political framework. Nothing more, nothing less.

No, again, the pendulum doesn’t land on any single destination. The current political framework means there is always a push and pull.

There is still work to be done to educate people/advocate for trans people. I’m not suggesting that the work stops, and we just wait for the pendulum. But what I’m saying is the pendulum can work in conjunction with the advocacy, and has in the past. Your everyday moderate person is going to respond more to who their perceive is being more rational.

The left needs to make some adjustments to our approach (focus more on educating and less on shaming), but we also have to make space for the right to look like the irrational reactionary overzealous fanatics.

Then that is not a pendulum, that is placating a political machine that demands the politics of civility.
