Traditional Christianity Can Still Be Saved

Much of the western world has gone through several decades of attacks on traditional Christianity to the point that the Judeo/Christian basis of western civilization could easily be destroyed. It's hard to imagine how it can survive the methodical profound moral collapse in the West. But, fortunately there are signs that traditional Christian moral values can still be supported and defended, both in the traditional heart of Christianity in Europe, and the new center of traditional Christianity in the Southern Hemisphere.

Yeah, 'traditional Christian moral values'. If I ask 10 Christians what those are, how many different replies will I get.

It's hard to take "Christian Values" seriously when the whole lot of 'em decide to throw in with a three-time serial adulterer who cheats on his pregnant wives with porn stars.

I'm guessing at least 20, because most self-described christians live in deafening cognitive dissonance.
 
There's a word for "Traditional Christianity". It's known as Catholicism. That is the "tradition" that goes back longer than any other.

I've seen 1st hand what "christianity" is like in some of those Southern Hemisphere nations. I lived 3 years in Nigeria and the muslims tended to leave me alone but the Christians (Pentecostalists and other equally fervent radicals) wanted me to confess my sins and stop being an atheist. This was before Boko Haram and the influence of ISIS in northern Africa.

A pox on both sides, the most unforgiving and horrible people were the ones who took religion to the extremes.

I'm glad you mentioned Boko Haram. Most people have no idea about persecution of Christians in Africa.

I've observed that in general, all evangelical religions -- the ones that pass judgment on non-adherents and compel followers to convert the heathens -- are susceptible to this annoying "used car salesman" behavior. I much prefer the non-evangelical religions - Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, etc. - that tend to be more content with staying out of peoples' ways.

There are muslim extremists further south in Africa but I tended to find that Christians were just as good at persecuting people in those countries.

And...some of those same countries are rated some of the happiest even though their winters are looooong and cooooold.
