I happened to catch this interesting interview today on Fox Business, between David Asman and Kevin Hassett. For anyone interested in hearing where we are with these two topics (trade deals and the big bill), please view the first video (10+ minutes) from this selection. I think you'll feel at least a bit more informed after hearing what Hassett has to say.

Oops, it's now the second video. It's the one that is 10 min 21 sec. If you want more info, I also found the newest one (currently the first one on the screen) with Steve Moore interesting too. That one is 8 min 29 sec.

Trump will be very busy when in Rome this weekend and his team has been very busy this week.

I think those who think Trump has significantly strained relationships with many allies, might be on the wrong track. And I think, specifically, Canadian posters on this forum who have been repeatedly making comments along that line, are viewing the situation from their (quite angry at present) Canadian perspective and that has transferred/skewed their thinking as to how they assume it is going with other countries.

Would you please edit the title of this thread to capitalize the words Big and Beautiful?

Donald issued you a style guide for this stuff and it's clear that you didn't bother to read it. I don't know why you continue to embarrass him with these unforced errors. He made it clear to you that his plans were not beautiful but Beautiful--over and over again--and you still haven't learned.

Sad.

Wait…so Trump is going to try to exploit a dead Pope for negotiating deals?

I haven’t gone any further than hearing mention of Rome.

Please tell me that’s not true.
I for one didn't get as far as her failure to capitalize the word Beautiful in the thread title.

Embarrassing.

Hassett is clearly very optimistic about the big bill and the Congressional unity surrounding it.

There was recent talk about the highest tax bracket maybe going up to 39-40%. It looks like that idea has been knocked out because it would hurt small businesses too much.

Quoting Fox Business and when the big bill doesn't happen and when the trade deals don't happen, someone is going to go into hiding or..................................... probably............................... as this lot always does............................. will blame Joe Biden. 🤣

3 pages (single spaced, lol) of people have requested time with him when he's in Rome. I doubt any of them are feeling they are "exploiting". They are just taking advantage of an opportunity to have a one-on-one bit of time with Trump. I certainly expect none of the meetings will interfere with any of the funeral activities.

We'll see if you're right Snowflake - no trade deals, no big bill, Biden blamed. Maybe our bookmark poster will bookmark your comment and then report back in several months. ;)

Do you watch anything that’s not Fox, by chance?

Is there actually a list provided with names? Or is this just someone on some video claiming there is a 3 page (single spaced) list?

Also, how about you post CNN or MSNBC's version of this activity in the next couple days? It would be fun to see who ends up closer to the predicting the actual outcome of these two important topics, don't you think?

The notion that one single leader of any critical trading partner is lining up to talk to Trump at the Pope's funeral is laughable.

He’ll stand next to Pope’s body and do his weird thumbs up.
He’s already gotten heat about announcing how he’s going as though it’s a joyful event…I really hope he’s not that damn tone deaf.

Don't want to hurt small businesses any more than you have to.

So far, really only South Korea has confirmed that there's a framework in place. A framework is not a trade deal. A framework just means they agree on what they can agree to talk about and focus on in their negotiations. Not that I expected a solid trade deal within 2 weeks or even 2 months, but that's the corner the administration is painting itself into. Having to come up with 70, 80, 90? trade deals within the span of a few months is very likely a lot harder than it looks, and these countries that enter into negotiations with the administration are looking at a lot more than just trade.

The Trump administration is looking at more than just trade, too, to be fair, but my greatest concern is that they are going to be doing so many negotiations in such a short time frame that things are going to get by them, which they'll realize after the fact. If that happens, what then? Do you think trade partners are going to just come back to the negotiating table? If a USMCA deal that was agreed to as a NAFTA update just a few years ago isn't good enough now, what isn't going to be good enough or what will be somehow flawed after the fact this time?

Won't even be close...........................
