These are the top ten states in the USA for gun owner rights, at least according to the video below. The states are North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Arkansas, West Virginia, and New Hampshire.

A lot of those states are at the bottom of life expectancies. Coincidence?

Yeah,lots of guns in NH. Other than that it's a wonderful place.

And we see at the top, the states with the most liberal gun laws:
New Mexico
Alaska
Arkansas

So why aren't those states near the bottom of the list rather the top ?

I did not whine about too many guns in NH. Maybe someone else did?

I can think of many other factors.
 
There seems to be little if any correlation between how liberal a state's gun laws are and its violent crime rate.

Because the prevalence of legally owned guns has nothing to do with the violent crime rates. But you knew that.

Therefore they (guns) have zero effect on deterring crime. Correct ?

Guns themselves don't. You simply have to extract yourself from the childish ideas of guns as independent actors.

Now, a person can indeed use a gun to deter a crime, or even likely future crimes in the event he uses one to center-punch a miscreant.
