Comments? Omissions? Unworthy entries? Additions?

I'm going to have to think about this.

I saw Pink Floyd do Echos much like they did at the Pompei venue -about the same time frame just before Dark Side was released
I dropped acid - lost track of my date and finally found my car and slept there till daylight..amazing

BTW.. If I remember correctly...

Stairway to Heaven was never a #1 song because it was what 8 minutes? So it seldom got played on the radio.. But over the years it maybe the most popular song, ever..

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.. Iron Butterfly..

The radio version was always cut down to 4-5 minutes.. Back in the day, radio didn't play any songs over 4 minutes

. Lol
Yeah, the business end of rock n roll. The 'ideal' song was 3:20. That way you could play three songs and have commercial breaks, news, etc. at ten after the hour. Longer songs cut into the commercial breaks.

It was never released as a single and that hurt it in the charts. But it did get airplay and it drove album sales. Led Zeppelin IV hit #2 in the U.S.

Overrated, but still iconic.

No Emerson, Lake and Palmer?

Any list that has Funkadelic on it can't be altogether meritless, but there's a lot of [redacted] on there I wouldn't give houseroom to. Maybe nowadays they're filed under electronica rather than rock but I would've thought Kraftwerk's Autobahn e.g. merited inclusion.

21st rock is probably more attention-challenged, all I can think of that I own are some Wolves in the Throne Room songs:

That's a respectable list.

I'd add "Beginnings" by Chicago, "Freebird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd, "Marquee Moon" by Television and "Whipping Post" by the Allman Brothers.

I wouldnt put any of those songs in my top 250.

Terrapin Station by the Grateful Dead.

My contribution is already on there at #19...Supper's Ready, by Genesis. It should be #1.

And I've been fortunate to see them do it in concert, more than once.

Several of the songs suggested are under ten minutes.

I'm Your Captain, a top 40 ditty bread from previous top 40 ditties? That's ahead of Telegraph Road? And NO Sultans of Swing?

NO EAGLES? At All. Hotel California is consider the consummate rock ballad and it's not even an afterthought?

And there was this band made kind of a smash. Maybe you never heard of them.....The Beatles!
