This is to enable large projects to get moving faster. This is one of the priorities that got Smith calmed down.

Other notable proposals:
1. Cut government spending from nine percent to two percent.
2. Balanced budget within three years.

Prime Minister Mark Carney is enacting a cross-departmental review of all regulations starting Wednesday, a measure he promised during the federal election campaign.

"Regulations play a key role in protecting the health and safety of Canadians—but to stay effective, they must be regularly reviewed," said Shafqat Ali, president of the Treasury Board, in a statement by his department accompanying the announcement.

"Cutting unnecessary red tape is essential to unlocking Canada's full economic potential."

Down here you're supposed to say it's "gutting" Government.

Notice he says nothing about reducing government spending, always a platform of the right in the US.

Carney's people are savvy enough to know Canadians LIKE spending - on social programs and infrastructure. Poly is foolishly promising to 'gut' spending but only suggesting social programs are on the block. The truth is he can't cut social spending....Canadians have a history of firing governments for being perceived as "stingy" ....the greatest insult you can delivery a Canadian.

Keep licking that 3rd rail Pierre!

It's amazing how ignorant you are about Canadian politics. If he was sounding like Trump he'd be still living in Europe and collecting a fat paycheck for telling Kings and billionaires how to get even more wealthy.

Really......no one will ever sound like Trump He's uniquely of a kind cruel and stupid

12 - 23 years I've been tracking you.

One day you may get something right.,.....by accident

The issue here, is there are GOING to be flashpoints.

With certain indigenous communities, with environmental protestors.

There are groups within indigenous communities that go around the Band even if there's an agreement.

How will the government handle that?

Well, some of the BC stuff did get a little ugly and controversial:

Not trying to be pessimistic, but even if he can get some of the red tape out the way, there could be flashpoints that could alter domestic political opinion.

Undoubtedly a potential minefield. He has no choice but to negotiate wins for the indigenous communities.

I personally don't see that as a bad thing.

The link says he is cutting spending from 9% to 2%. How is that not a cut in spending?

You can always trust the CBC and especially the "Fifth Estate" to over dramatize.

They have been accused, rightly in my opinion of being anti-establishment, and deliberately fostering protestors - even outright support.

The "War of the Woods" has been raging since the late 60's and will continue so long as man needs wood to build houses. The world needs our SPF (spruce ,pine, fir category) for homes. We need the jobs.

Smashed flat, ironed out, British Columbia has more land surface than all of the United States - ALL of it covered in SPF.

More and more native land claims play a part and well so. However, of late land claims have been used and abused by climate activists, absurd claims that have to be examined which delays harvesting sometimes for decades.

I'm a conservationist and lobby for higher, chokingly higher harvest fees to double prices. 75% goes to China anyway,

BC is always the flash point.

The logging industry here is five times that of the rest of the country.

BC's fist export was logs.

That sounds like a compliment to me, not sure why you're using it pejoratively.

I believe it is the level of increase in spending

Which was 9% a year for the last few years down to a 2% increase which would be inline with inflation
