too many middle aged people

ok im 22 and im sorry but the youth should push the future forward. The zeigest is dictated by youth. Unfortunitly things are slowing down too much.Im sorry but the creators of south park are more on the button than the US government.

Its almost animalistic the youngest strongest fittest should be in control brain deterioration beings young.I would feel different if people 50 + where the sages or elders they claimed to be.
 

Meh.
I'm almost 33. My mental acuity has never been better than it is now; certainly not when I was in my 20s.
And I don't get the feeling it's on the decline; you know what I mean? I don't get that sense at all. I feel like it's going to keep getting better for awhile, before it plateaus, and then declines. Maybe another 20 years or so. maybe 30. Who knows?

I do not feel I would've been fit to lead others, in my 20s. I feel I'd be more up to the task now, and even more up to it in 10 to 20 years.
The smartest person I know is 55. And he's a lot smarter than he was as a younger person, I know that because I knew him back then, too.
I think 50 to 60... okay, I'll say maybe 40 to 60. Is peak time for most people's intellectual and mental acuity. Before that, not enough wisdom, not enough experience.
After that... well, inevitably, mental clarity eventually declines.
All one has to do is look at the amnesic zombie who was our president for eight years back in the 1980s to realize that.

I like it that presidents have to be at least 35. That's a good age to start.
 


Yes but ive noticed you talk about experience too much some of the most renowened leaders got it through birth right. 35 is reasonable enough but it takes younger people to push what the social ziegeist young people are gonna end up being a minority.

Well, I don't know about the rest of it, but that part in bold text is the god's truth.
In the Western World, young people are going to "end up a minority".
The baby boomers- well, their generation is larger than yours and mine put together.
And they're getting about too old to work, now.
I don't know what's going to happen.
 

Thats my main point the thing with this post is its impossible to say without sounding insulting.You cant have people over say 55 judgeing the future things have changed so much if the civil rights movement was now could it be done?

But the people who are middle-aged to old now were in fact the empitus behind the civil rights movement.
Would it happen now (if it hadn't already happened a long time ago)?
I doubt it.
We don't seem to be made of the same stuff.
We are a generation overattached to creature comforts, and yours is the same, but worse.
 

I see .myself personnelly different but yea the castrated generation.
 
I personnally cannot figure out how the Woodstock generation can take over the country and we get more conservative!

Easy what people do when they 20, single and with little or no responsibility is not what they do when they are 40 and have a family. This is why young people should NOT be in charge.

Another reason the young should not be in charge. Most of the young have not lived, they don't know what it means to take care of a family, to have to pay the mortgage, to have to put food on the table. There is a huge difference in life issues and goals between a 20 year old and a 40 year old.
 
I disagree strongly......when I was 20.....I was a conservative Republican....probably more out of defiance to my parents than anything. Maturing a little and getting a lot of education (albeit in a conservative school in a conservative state - University of Utah)....I realized that the Republican party of the 60's, 70's and even early 80's had transformed and was becoming more and more concerned with social/moral issues. I realized that less government interference in human life was best and the Republican party was becoming more and more that party of big brother and big government. Glad to say that I grew up and made the transition and am now very comfortable in my liberal philosophy. No one will convince me that the Liberal viewpoint is not the correct viewpoint because I have lived through it and have seen the error of my ways.....many others cannot say the same thing.

But I am now middle aged....and am confident that I have a much more clear and informed view of the world than I did in my 20's.
 
I just remembered a quote that I loved in my 20's.....but now see the other side. It goes something like this:


The biggest mistake of youth is that they believe that intelligence is a substitute for experience.
The biggest mistake of adults is that they believe that experience is a substitute for intelligence.

Maybe its best to have a little of each?
 

Yea but why send a man to the moon if life is about mortages we have to keep pushing when people are set in their ways thats it.It will be the death of the west if the people in charge keep getting older and older.

Its the classic example his/her/their early stuff was better.Soryy but age breads mediocrity not wisdom.

Well, the people in charge have always been old. I don't know that they're really getting much 'older".
Old white men have always been running this dog & pony show.
The only difference now is that there's an old black woman, a couple old white women, and possibly an old black man or two thrown in for variety.

Old ideas in charge the old men where forced to change
 
Our culture does not revere the senior citizens of our society as other cultures do. You look at Native Americans, Asians or African-American cultures who hold the elderly in high esteem because they have lived life a long time and have experienced things that, if passed down, young people could benefit from. The young should always seek out the wisdom of the old.

The tragedy of age, is that many older people, do not think the young can teach them anything. That's a big mistake! The old CAN learn from young!

I think the problem is that in our industrialized, increasingly technical society, many of the old really are sort of "clueless".
Societies in which the elderly are revered are generally societies in which not much changes, from one generation to the next.
The world is currently in a state of great social flux; we're experiencing seismic shifts, sociologically speaking.
Some very elderly people seem to have reached the end of their ability to adapt; some have even regressed, it seems, to an earlier time when they felt more comfortable, a time characterized by "values" no longer shared by the majority of us.
Not to say that some of them aren't both cognizant and wise. They can be.
