It probably had a lot to do with their upbringing.
The 1950s was a low point in history, to be a kid.

Probably. They should all stand trial and be giving a sentence according to how much damage they've done to the world. They should all get like 50 years for Disco. 70 years if they were there when MTV first aired.

It's weird; they were the impetus behind the anti-(Vietnam) war movement and the Civil Rights movement and women's rights.
Everything that makes it possible for you and I to live comfortably in this world today, we owe to them.
But then after that it seems liked they changed (like maybe sometime during the 80s?) and fvcked things up so bad... the environment, the global situation, domestic policy, even public health (due to environmental pollutants and overuse of antibiotics, which has effected their efficacy).
Maybe it wasn't the same ones (that did the Civil Rights movement and all that). It's hard to believe they could change so much in such a short time- I mean, change their principles and everything.

I think what happened was that the squares of the 60s are the ones who today have all the power. The draft dodgers, the people who wouldn't protest Vietnam..they ended up with all the power. The people who protested the war and were there for the civil rights movement IMO ended up being the Ralph Naders and John Kerrys. Essentially they ended up being nobodies...but thats jut my opinion...

Hey, I'm a baby boomer!

And what you said, pisses me off!

Because it's true...

Hmmm...I was born on the cusp year; some consider me a 'Baby Boomer', some a 'Gen Xer'. Either way, I don't take responsibility for the current shape of the world. I will, however comment on your MTV statement. I was there when MTV first aired. At that time, it was about music. What has ruined MTV is the recent and current crop of moronic reality shows, focused solely on sex, alcohol, and other assorted indulgences and narcissism, aimed at the 16-30 year old generation. If anyone has ruined MTV, that's the generation that did it. :2wave:

Capt. You keep surprising me I thought you'd be at most 40...

What a nice thing to say. Just turned 43 less then two weeks ago. Most people mistake me (both how I look and act) for mid-thirties.

The biggest problem for the baby boomers is that the younger generation doesn't contribute that much to the economy. Many do not get jobs and do not put money into the system. Some are that way deliberately. I have no illusions that I will not be able to collect social security when I get of age. I have been paying into it every year since 1973 (when I was 15). And because of our obscene defense budget and the loafer young, I won't see a dime, when it's time!
