We have a new very liberal mayor here in NYC (de Blasio) whose determined to socially engineer the best public High Schools to look more like his Family's dinner table.
Asians, even socio-economically Disadvantaged Asians, are blowing everyone else out of the city's most choice High Schools with better study habbits and Higher IQs. de Blasio wants to throw in more/BS criteria to try and increase other minorities.
Seems liberals are upset with THIS minority.
I mean, after all, this may not just show culture, but the 'R' word has merit.

The same thing happens at Ivy League colleges, where smarter Asians are significantly penalized relative to White and Humongously penalized relative to Blacks.

Immigration "reform" is aimed at bringing millions of Asians, not Hispanics, into the country.

Everyone knows that asians aren't the right kind of minority for affirmative action. Only hispanics and blacks.

I must have missed it - I'm sure it's in there - but what are they doing, exactly, that's designed to punish poor asian-americans?

That's because:
a. You didn't bother read the article.
b. Can't understand what was written. Content challenged.
c. Are just putting up token harassment as you don't agree with the articles drift.

As it stands now, Asians are Blowing the doors off the elite High Schools.
SO.. the Mayor an NAACP want to change the Mix to a more "holistic" one.
Holistic is a code word for quotas/Racial balance.
Got it?

So they want to change admissions policy to something 'softer' than tests.
Something the state previously stopped becaus it did Not want politics in the admissions. (first quoted line in my last. Got it?)

It continues
IOW, because Blacks and Hispanics do worse in a completely NON-discriminatory test, they want to call it so anyway.

IOW, if you play Basketball after school, it might get you past thousands of smarter Asians in getting into 'Bronx SCIENCE.'

I think it's quite explanatory that they want a more SUBjective than OBjective policy, and that Obviously the NAACP is not advocating for benefit of Asians in this closed sum game.
Got it?
I had to do all that just because your post was emptily Contrary and/or obtuse.

Why the attitude?
It was actually a genuine question of confusion - likely fueled by inadequate sleep. I saw racist remarks highlighted but wasn't quite seeing how it fit together with the active effort put forward by the college.

And your rambling in response might show you need sleep like me.

The Hostility, admittedly and expressedly, was for making me elaborate all that material that was quite Plain.
So it was quite a fair reaction.
NOW you Ironically complain about "Rambling" because I had to lay it out in response to YOUR dim post!
Nice.

Gives a Midol.

It might help

The great Liberal Quandary.
Afirmative Action/Holistic Admissions, is NOT about helping 'minorities', it's about helping One or two Of those minorities.
It's Used Against the Asian Minority.
Ironically, we're being invaded by one of the those poor-performing minorities and have been letting them into the country by the Millions.
THEN.. we have a Self-created problem of Poor students who need even more expensive Remedial classes.
Those people are NOT going to be paying our retirement costs.
They are a Net Drain on the economy, now and later.

What Did Asian Kids Do To Make The New York Times And Bill De Blasio HATE THEM?

I have to weigh-in on AS's side here. It's annoying when people post other's work as the primary POV. Links and references to support your own POV are fine, but don't make me read what you were too lazy to write in the first place.

Not to say I disagree with this particular OP point, btw. And the OP did write a few words of his own, to be fair.

That is Stupendous Wrong.
Are you trying to sacrifice your credibility and increase your fame/Infamy by making outrageous and Obtuse statements?

"AS" Didn't have "a side". AS merely Failed to be able to read what was written and Linked.

And my posts have plenty of my own text (and are consistently among the Meatiest on this board), while you have Said NOTHING of substance except make a Ridiculous one-sentence claim and then a second post Cheerleading for another NON 'side', if.. you were forced to admit my posts do have original content.

The Irony, of course, is you unjustly criticizing lack of substance with your own No-substance posts.

Asians are the wrong kind of minority for liberals. They're too independent and won't play their toxic patronage game.
