So, if it wasn't for the money-grubbing prick, 4 other people didn't need to die.

Multiple contributing factors — including OceanGate’s toxic workplace environment and profit-over-safety ethos — led to the entirely "preventable" implosion of a submersible that killed five people off Newfoundland two years ago, Coast Guard investigators said Tuesday.

Of course it was preventable. So many safety corners cut.

There are some things where the safety rules are literally written in the blood of those who came before us. Bob had an idea and they tried it, and Bob died. So those who saw it sat down and wrote. Don't do what Bob did.

Not having enough lifeboats? Bob said it would be fine. Bob was wrong. Don't do what Bob did. No redundant systems or way to surface in an emergency? Bob said it would be fine. Bob was wrong.

But this idiot. Expired Carbon Fiber? Hey we can get that cheap. After listing all the stupid decisions that broke a rule that Bob had paid for with his life over the history, one wonders if God selected the idiot to remind us of all the lessons a couple thousand Bob's had paid for the hard way.

Wouldn't most people face negligent homicide charges for doing something like this?

Imagine that, lax safety standards by some libertarian utopianist lead to death. NOBODY COULD HAVE PREDICTED THAT!!!!!111!!!oneone!!!

The extremely unusual thing is that the person guilty of causing it was on board when it imploded. Nearly always the person causing the harm just gets the profit.

A victim. He was only 19yo.
