tiny D from Florida speaks of building a prison next to Disney...

Ron is throwing a fit, tomorrow he is due in DC to put the lean on Congress. There are already a handful who have publically endorsed Trump. This visit should be like a slap back to reality.

Isn't Disney World one of Florida's biggest employers and sources of revenue?

Is this fight something that Florida's voters even want?
Something like an 80 billion impact on the FL economy. Ron is poking a sleeping giant, imo.

If a solid majority of his constituency wants a culture war...and from the outside looking in it really seems they do...then an economic impact isn't going to be on their minds.

There is presently no income tax in FL. If the Disney money dries up, the Villages members will be singing a different tune. The FL State Constitution would have to be changed to implement an income tax.

Someone will holler “Uncle” first, imo.

There are 77,000 Cast Members throughout the Disney World resort, which makes it the biggest single-site employer in the United States. Mar 14, 2023. I think it's pretty obvious DeSantis couldn't care less about how Floridians feel about anything.

Wow. Governor Insecure and his tiny frail ego just won't stop, will he? Disney has totally triggered the little man. I wonder how much spittle he ejects every time he speaks of his grand plans for vengeance legislation against WD.

And yet, as far as I can tell after doing some googling, DeSantis's approval is consistently above water. His voters really do want this culture war.

The problem with people who engage in culture war is that more culture war is always the solution to the failure of the last culture war. These are consistently the kinds of people you find Jordan Klepp interviewing at Trump rallies. Even if DeSantis personally doused every home with gasoline and set it on fire, the destroyed home's residents would blame transexuals and woke libs.

These aren't critical-thinking people.

A part of me wishes some of the Disney people would start taking to the Southwest part of Georgia, regarding land acquisition.
When the press asks why, they could answer "Just in case"..with a big smile.
I guarantee the powers-that-be-in Florida (Donors) would put a stop to DeSantis's Bullshit nastiness.

I don’t get the impression that DeSantis has surrounded himself with the best advisors. He is careening around looking for something to strike at and Disney is the latest target. Another poster posits that Ron is not well liked, I agree. He has zero charisma and stumbles when he is unable to filter who has access to his events. Trump is toying with him now, I think it will be a blood bath when it gets real.

DeSantis thinking of plans to kill Disney's pull for FL tourism just proves how vindictive he is while giving no thought to the FL economy and the FL taxpayers. He seems intent on destroying his chances nationally before he even declares. Trump should take DeSantis' stupid stance on Disney and turn it against him. Disney is FL and FL is Disney!

My impression is that DeSantis works well in Florida, but as a national or Primary candidate he'll be torn to shreds. And in fact, it could be argued that he's already well along into the process of getting torn to shreds.

I'm starting to think the tide is turning against him in FL too. I think he has gone way to far. I was very surprised to see he was only leading Trump by 5 points in FL. That's slim in a State where he overwhelmingly won re-election.

This is what MAGA means by "he's a fighter." Applies to DeSantis as it does to Trump. From what I can tell, "he's a fighter" means "stop those people we hate."

Oddly, DeSantis does remain popular even though Floridians oppose much of his agenda. Guns, abortion, even the all-encompassing anti-woke. And he has no charm.

Cardinal mentioned critical thinking. I dunno, but the problem looks deeper than that to me. Certainly complex.

DeSantis is allegedly devoutly religious. When god is unhappy with his people, he has been known to send floods, plagues, and other disasters. Ronnie D. should take notice

I mentioned critical thinking only with regards to how a fixation with culture war specifically turns off critical thinking like a light switch.

Seems to have turned off all their thinking skills. Yes, hate based politics is devoid of reason. I'm fascinated that Floridians don't agree with much of his agenda yet like him anyway. If he had an ounce of charisma, then that could explain it. Either the culture wars hold a disproportionate value to voters or there is a disconnect between policy and popularity.

There are lots of disconnects in Florida, and I've just about given up trying to figure them out. Like how a majority of Florida voters voted overwhelmingly to let ex-convicts get their voting rights back, Florida's legislature said "Get bent" and voters responded "Okie dokie!"
