Tillis won’t run for reelection in North Carolina

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) on Sunday announced he will not seek reelection to the Senate next year, firing a political shockwave into the midterm cycle after he said he would oppose President Trump’s mammoth tax package.

“As many of my colleagues have noticed over the last year, and at times even joked about, I haven’t exactly been excited about running for another term,” Tillis said in a statement. “That is true since the choice is between spending another six years navigating the political theatre and partisan gridlock in Washington or spending that time with the love of my life Susan, our two children, three beautiful grandchildren, and the rest of our extended family back home.

“It’s not a hard choice, and I will not be seeking re-election,” he said.

Now that’s fun. Can’t throw you under the bus if you walk away.

Not a surprise.

He was elected to be a conservative and he isn't.

He is a conservative.

He's not MAGA. MAGA is not conservative, it's dumbass populism.
No he isn't so he had put NC in play.

NC has voted for Trump three times now I believe and Tillis was elected to implement Trumps plans.

He probably would have been primaried out if he had run again.

Almost the entire Senate is corrupt with people who fund and protect the deep state and tell their constituents to **** off. They are almost all establishment politicians that serve the corrupt machine. The house is similar but there are more that buck their party.

Are you pretending Trump and his magatry are conservatives?
Gawd, I'd pay money to see William F. Buckley, jr. do 15 minutes on the subject of Trump and Trumpism.
Hell, Ronald Reagan would be entertaining on that subject.

Not in the view of far right wingers.

Cooper has a pretty good chance of taking Tillis’ seat. 👍

I think Cooper wasn’t sure of his chances against Tillis.

I think Cooper wasn’t sure of his chances against Tillis.
Cooper has been mulling a run for Tillis’ Senate seat since before he left office in January, and with Tillis announcing his retirement Cooper’s chances have gotten a boost. He’s certainly the Dems best candidate.

Hopefully Stephen Miller will not also order the execution of the love of Senator Tillis's life, Susan, his two children, three beautiful grandchildren, and the rest of his extended family back home when he signs Tillis's death warrant.
