(CNN)Thousands of activists and allies poured into Madison, Wisconsin, on Thursday as part of a massive rally against legislation that protest leaders described as "racist" and "anti-immigrant."Called "A Day Without Latinos and Immigrants in Wisconsin," the protests center on two pieces of legislation -- one, AB 450, would ban so-called "sanctuary cities" in Wisconsin, while another, SB 533, seeks to prevent local government from issuing ID cards to undocumented immigrants.
AB 450 recently passed the Assembly and is now expected to be considered by the upper chamber, while SB 533 has been approved by both and is headed to the desk of Republican Gov. Scott Walker. The governor's office did not immediately respond to an email asking if he plans to sign it into law.
Voces de la Frontera, one of the organizing groups, touted on its website "work stoppages, business closures and student walk-outs" in support of a broader effort to kill the bills and make a showing of immigrant economic power.
The author of AB 450, State Rep. John Spiros, a Marshfield Republican, rejected the characterization of his bill as "anti-immigrant," telling CNN he wrote it in response to the high-profile shooting death last summer of Kate Steinle. The 32-year-old San Francisco woman was allegedly killed by Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, an undocumented immigrant and felon who had repeatedly re-entered the country after multiple deportations.
"After I saw that Wisconsin had three 'sanctuary cities' -- Madison, Racine and Milwaukee County -- I went to work and said, 'How can we do something to make sure we don't have another San Francisco?'" Spiros said. "That's truly what the basis was ...This bill is not there to split up families. It's not an anti-immigration bill."

I applaud their actions and advocacy! I hope these bills are killed. Immigrants are not the problem no matter what their documentation status is. :applaud

So basically illegals and anti-Americans whose lips are on the cocks of the illegal immigration lobby are protesting potential anti-illegal immigration laws in Wisconsin.I am shocked that those people would protest anti-illegal immigration laws, say it ain't so. Of course illegals and anti-Americans whose lips are planted on the cocks of the illegal alien lobby would characterize the potential law as racist and anti-illegal immigration.
I hope Wisconsin does the pro-American thing and signs the anti-illegal immigration bill into law. There should be no such thing as sanctuary cities.
Do you talk like that when women are around? You sure couldn't have been raised by a woman like my mother.
This isn't the basement.

I agree with all but one thing. Those people are not undocumented immigrants or illegal immigrants. They are aliens. I prefer to call them what they actually are, rather than succumb to the PC bull**** machine. Lipstick on a pig and all.

Well I am a socialist... So yes?Typical socialist, aren't you?
Is this another cheap talking point?Just like your liberal President, you want to selectively abide by the Constitution
Is something about the protest not legal, or something?and you oppose legal legislative actions in one of our fifty States.
Why do you dislike the Constitution?
From that statement, what makes you think I dislike the constitution?
Well I am a socialist... So yes?
Is this another cheap talking point?
Is something about the protest not legal, or something?
Because, nothing that is being offered by this legislation seems contrary to Constitutional thinking.
"Sanctuary cities" are protected by law as well... Im really not seeing your point?More to the point, AB 450, seems designed to uphold the principles of law by going after so-called sanctuary cities.
The thing is "sanctuary cities" are allowed and protected by both federal law and state laws (if they have the states/cities have them on the books)... So again, I guess I'm confused on how you drew the conclusion that "i dislike the constitution"?If there is a problem with a law then we have a remedy to deal with that, but designing politically protected locations within the nation where parts of the law no longer applies suggest diminishing the importance of law.
Okay and your a conservative so I guess your "positions are predictable" :shrug:Yes, you are a socialist...that's why your positions are so predictable.
:yawn:No, not a talking point. Just an intelligent observation.
Then whats your point? Being in opposition of legislation is not allowed or something? People from all sides of the aisle from all background and from all different povs oppose legislation action on various subjects. Whats your point in pointing out that I oppose this legislation?LOL!!
Who said anything about the protest not being legal? I certainly didn't.
:lamo So mighty.Dude...if this is the best response to my post that you can come up with, it's obvious you are a weak debate opponent who cannot even defend your own position. Definitely not worth my time.
You are dismissed.

And ok? I never said it did....

Sanctuary cities are protected by law, this is a fact. No, they are contradictory law.
Except sanctuary cities do "federal laws", and sanctuary cities "meshing" with state laws depends on a state by state basis, hence the reason Wisconsin is trying to pass this legislation...Law at a local level that does not mesh with State and/or Federal laws on immigration. If it were otherwise then we would have nothing to discuss no matter how much you support the idea of "sanctuary cities."
What position are you even taking? That sanctuary cities are unconstitutional (which they arent)? That Im in opposition to this legislation (thanks for stating the obvious)? I mean what exactly is your position?Perhaps...except I haven't stated any position and you haven't disputed any position.
Well all you have really done in regards to "responding to my position" is saying, "you oppose legal legislative actions in one of our fifty States."... Okay? How does one cogently respond to that? All you are really doing is just stating the obvious..I've simply responded to YOUR position and you've...well, you've pretty much spun out of control in your inability to cogently respond.
"You oppose this legislation". Okay? And..... What? And this is a case in point about your inability to cogently respond.
:doh Can you please point to where and how sanctuary cities are "against the Constitution"?I simply described your own actions in disregarding the Constitution
This isnt even a sentence.and in protesting legal legislation in one of our States...
Dont really know what this means. Pretty vague statement. But anyways :shrug:actions that Obama has taken numerous time, btw.
Protesting legislation? Sure.Hey...if you feel good doing that sort of thing,
What am I doing? Being against a piece of legislation?then you shouldn't get defensive about me pointing out what you are doing,
Being against legislation or protesting legislation is typical for socialists?showing that your actions are typical for a socialist
This is really going nowhere.and that they mimic that guy...Obama's...actions.
I dont even know what Im standing up against right now, because all you have done is, maybe called sanctuary cities uncsontituional, but then you did not provide any substance to back up this fact. You then pointed out the obvious that I am against this legislation. Then you kinda ranted and loosely associated maybe the act of protest to both socialists and Obama. I mean all you have done is gone on an incoherent ramble....I'd say that if you are proud of your actions, you should own them. Stand up for yourself, eh?
