Thomas Massie (R) says Epstein survivors would be threatened/bankrupted for releasing names so he & MTG can mention names on the floor of the House

There must be some really high profile Democrats on the list (obviously) for these two to break with Trump and start naming names.

But don't be surprised if the people they mention are mostly enemies.

Massie: "...what my colleague Marjorie Taylor Greene volunteered to do, and I've volunteered to do as well, is to read that list on the floor of the House of Representatives."

What this Epstein fiasco is proving is how low life the gop is and how badly they want to keep the files secret and there is only one reason why, the people on the list.

People like to put down insanity. Being "crazy" is supposed to be an insult. So why is Marjorie Taylor Greene setting up to be the hero of this story?

We should look at sanity with far greater distrust.

Everything is so sullied and tainted by the politics of retribution, of agenda, of partisan gain, that I don't see any real value on adding fuel to this particular fire. Notice I have not used the word 'justice'. There is zero chances of anyone getting a single deserved day behind bars from any of this.

The case for justice is closed. Publishing the 'list' or releasing edited or redacted evidence from this file, is all about destroying someone else's reputations, and preserving other reputations , and I have no appetite for any of this.

This seems relevant:

Mace sued for defamation by man she accused of abuse in floor speech

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) is facing a defamation lawsuit filed by one of the four men she has publicly accused of sexual abuse in a floor speech, in a case that could test the legal protections members of Congress have for their official conduct.

I'm slowly becoming convinced that any con who reads a list on the house floor will contain dems only. Trump's name will be mysteriously absent despite at least one claimed victim and a witness to her rape.

None of their antics will save them from the truth, whatever it ends up being but you can be damn sure there are names that these women know and will expose. These women are not playing.

Yes, no doubt they've had enough. I just can't imagine MTG exposing Trump on the House floor.

I'm thinking mtg has had enough of trump personally. She at least had the balls to speak her mind about some of trump's actions and him insulting her doesn't help him at all.

The protection is supposed to be "absolute", since the text says their conduct "shall not be questioned in any other place".

That said, the constitution also says that "congress shall make no law" violating freedom of expression, and yet they SURE HAVE A LOT OF THEM. You can put a mousetrap on the ground, but make a video of a mouse going in the trap and they will come after you for making "crush video". Freedom of expression is absolute and fundamental, but the constitution is a rotting old piece of paper in the history of a decaying empire. One which claims "compelling" interest to do whatever it bloody wants.

If they accuse people on this list of a crime without proof, they can be held accountable.

"The survivors said that they had decided to compile their own [Epstein] list. But the reality is, if they try to release that list, they're going to be sued into homelessness..."

I see that you didn't read what Massey said and how he can get the names out there legally.

That doesn't surprise me.

It's a high stakes gamble at best, but yes, they could read the names. The risk of a lawsuit is certainly possible, but I doubt it would happen for the simple reason that anyone suing would be countersued, which means that the victims would have an entre to testify and would. Now, I'm sure the men involved have already seen what happened to Phillip when he went up against Giuffre. My guess is that no guilty party is going to risk it. Rather, he will choose to deny it but stop short of a lawsuit for fear of not only losing, but calling all kinds of unwanted attention to himself. If convicted in the court of public opinion, his political career is over, and worst case, he loses a fortune in the countersuit a long with that

The Streisand Effect is going to hit them hard.

I understand that he believes he has the authority in his official capacity as a member of Congress.

I'm saying he's mistaken if he believes that's true.
It's okay if some random guy on the internet disagrees.
