This is one brave female hunter, i would of been scared Shitless

"i would have been scared shitless" followed by "And shot the bear before it got that close to me" says more than intended, methinks.

I wonder how much gun violence really is a manifestation of fear. After all, anger is often enough masked fear.

It's creepy seeing the bear climb the ladder like a person. It's a super cute bear though.

That's your response to a hunting story? Really?

You are aware that the only legally justifiable reason to shoot a person is "I was in fear of my life or of grave bodily harm to myself or another", right?
You do realize that the normal human physiological response to the threat of death is fear?

Or are you just trying to belittle anyone who mentions anything remotely gun related?

Yes the bears, why won't anyone think of the poor bears?

I always remember this story about the guy who lived with bears and played with them, chilling

I'm reminded of a cartoon strip, maybe Far Side? Shows a guy growing up who loved teddy bears as a kid, became a writer of children's books with bears as friendly characters, etc. Then his buddy suggests they go to Yellowstone and see some real bears. When he sees a couple Grizzlies the guy runs to hug them. Cut scene to his tombstone.

Ya may love bears, but they are wild animals, not yer buddies...

Far Side. Love it.
Another bear-related Far Side- two polar bears standing around an igloo with the top torn open. One says to the other, "I just love these things! Crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy in the middle!"

We watched Katmai live bear cams ( should start up again soon) and were surprised that anglers walk so close to these huge brown bears. I was literally holding my breath on more than one occasion.

Shooting the bear was quite obviously not necessary and the video the poster offered proved as much. Shooting the bear out of fear would have been bad. Nonetheless, the poster announced they would shit themselves and then shoot the bear. Someone notices the gap between necessity and proposed action and you go:

That's.... insanely defensive on the subject of guns. Which is also why I try to avoid the gun control forum. Say anything that isn't "I ****ing LOVE guns" and...well.. that

Or are you just trying to belittle anyone who mentions anything remotely gun related?

Should I post a picture of a mirror or can we take that as read?

I've been up close with black bears, but that is a very different critter. They're rarely aggressive.

Back in the wild-and-wooly days, when I was a cop, I had a shift partner whose name escapes me now, call him Junior. Young guy, maybe 25. He liked his beer, and spent his off days in some weird holeinnawall bar one county over.

That bar had bear wrestling. Yes, a literal bear, claws capped or something and muzzled, you got in the ring and wrestled the bear. If you went so many minutes without being pinned or giving up or jumping out, you won $200. He was talking about it before shift briefing one night, before his day off. "I think imma rassle that bear," Junior says, "he ain't so big". We all jeered and said yeah right.

Next day he's on duty, he shows up moving slow and groaning and looking stiff and sore. "Hey Junior, what happened to you?"

"Uh, I rassled that bear."
"... did you win?"
"Uh, no... bear won."

I suppose I could have also commented on the dubious moral character of hiding up on a perch to shoot animals from one's hiding spot. But, y'know, you can't say anything that could possibly be perceived as negative about guns AND about killing things for fun in the same post.

To me "Hunter gets scared by bear" sounds like the weakest form of Karma.

Whatever bro. I'm not the one who turned a hunting story into a rant about gun violence.

Not sure why anyone uses bears as entertainment, but yes, they have the upper hand given half a chance.

You expected logic?

Ya need a moose
