Think things are bad now? We may be getting into war with Iran soon.

The Iranians are going ahead with their nuclear enrichment. The Iran nuclear deal was nixed in Trump’s first term, so now we have no leverage at this point… except going to war.

Yes- that’s just what we need, just as the economy is tanking and we are in a tariff war already with the entire world. And this time, don’t expect any European allies to help out.

MAGA! (Sounds like a sick joke at this point)

The IFers will jump for joy.

I can't stand religious freaks of any stripe.

what do you think would have happened under the JCOP? .. same thing including Iran developing it's ballistic missiles

So, no Nobel Peace Prize then?

Nope. The agreement kicked the can down the road for a number of years.

Too bad trump decided to tank it.

The US right now is as isolated and as much an international rogue state and pariah as Iran. It is in a far weaker and more vulnerable position.
Hell, yesterday the WH said the USA is powerless to stand up to El Salvador - whom trump recently hired!

A highly exaggerated assessment, both of Iran's strength and the USA's weakness.

What's the difference? Both have shown nothing but contempt for international law and agreements, and have done nothing but spread political/economic instability and bullying.
The difference is that the USA is not a terrorist state like Iran.

US will have serious problems attacking Iran. Geography is against them, plus the geo-political situation in the Gulf. No safe place for its troops, and sending in carriers into the Persian Gulf.. bad idea.

What country is going to join a coalition with the US right now? They are all too busy figuring out how to build trade networks with each other to get around our tariffs.

Like Afghanistan, I have no doubt that if the US decides to invade, they could devastate Iran, and even perhaps affect regime change. The people in that country largely hate this Islamic government of theirs, and are looking for any sign of instability to rise from within and overthrow it.

But then, when you start thinking about two chess moves later, the question is what then? If anyone thinks Afghanistan was expensive and a boondoggle, this would be even a bigger problem and lead to even more geopolitical instability in the region. It’s going to be opening up a big can of worms over there.

And Americans were upset about deficits and the price of milk before?

That’s some delusional bs right there.

No need for the US to invade Iran. It could destroy Iran's ability to export oil very quickly. Eliminating Iran's economy at a stroke.

I don't like Iran's internal policies at all. Just look at what amnesty international has to say about them if you need to know why.

But, if I was Iran, or any other country in the neighborhood, I'd make sure I got nuclear weapons as soon as possible.
Look what happens to the countries that haven't got them in the past, they get invaded and slaughtered.
Killing people never brought peace, only retaliation.

In "lawrence of Arabia", Sherif Ali says "God help the men who lie under that", showing humanity even towards a hated enemy.
There's nothing of that anymore, nothing.

If Iran get nukes then every other country in the region that has the means will try to rush their own nuclear arsenal.

They haven't yet ? The middle east is a gordian knot and whatever you cut, something else pops up.

Well the Saudis for example are rather busy with burning all their money on building fantasy cities that no one will ever live in. The Emiratis have their own vanity problems they throw money on. And in Turkey Erdogan is busy trying to keep the people from rising up against him, so not much time and money spent on nukes for now. However that would change if Teheran gets the bomb. On the other hand Iran has been "a year away from getting the bomb" since the 1990s, which is a very long year.

Yes, yes and yes. Ho ! wait a sec, I thought that was about a nuclear powerplant ! You sure you didn't get that from the same guy that shouted "WMD" ?

Yes, but on the bright side, Bibi Netanyahoo and Miriam Adelson will be happy, and that’s what matters most to Trump. And to be fair, most American politicians on both sides of the aisle are bought and paid for by AIPAC.
Either that or Mossad has some serious dirt on these folks.

What? What's Iran done that the US hasn't?
Backed and financed Hezbollah and Hamas. Hung mentally retarded teen girls from cranes. Supported Jew hatred groups in many West European countries. That will do for a start, I think.
