These Are the 381 Books Removed From the Naval Academy Library

I do indeed. Come back when you can be more civil.

Ah. So you wouldn’t read my post past the first line. But you feel a pathological need to tell me you are ignorant because. Um. Biden is awful. Or something.

No. You don’t know what books are.

I haven’t mentioned Biden, odd that you would.

I know very well what books are. I don’t need a silly lecture from some rando on the internet. Again, come back when you possess the ability to discuss the topic in a civil manner.

No, it's the government choosing to not have certain books at their schools. All schools do this. But, as I said, it shouldn't be done when the school is for adults.

The government has banned no books, that I know of. What is a book that's illegal for you to own or read?
It's a piecemeal deconstruction of the US Constitution by our current authoritarian regime.

Too bad there is not a single children's book there.

Did you know that the African American firefighter could not get the job without legal action because they racist goons doing the hiring wouldn't hire non-whites?

Then the law changed, and he was able to get in the door.

Um, so how long ago was this and how does that compare with 2025?

Black Chicago FFs continue fight over denied promotions

Nearly 20 years after court ruling, Black Chicago firefighters continue to call attention to alleged continual workplace discrimination

CHICAGO — When former Chicago firefighter Michael Taqee retired from his public service role, he wanted to be able to tell his grandchildren he worked his way up the leadership ranks of the Fire Department.

But an admission practice that discriminated against Black firefighter applicants in the 1990s hurt Taqee in the promotion tests he took two decades later. The exam had a seniority component that accounted for 30% of the score.

Its not dumb if your goal is to repress independent thought.

How about "dangerous?"

Once they geet a taste for banning books in school libraries, they were apt to bite off more.

Long ago they banned a book about a boy and his adventures with another boy and their friend.

It was called "Tom Sawyer"

It has been banned many times since then and will be again. I've read it many times. The only reason to NOT want someone to read it could be that it speaks a truth no one wants to admit.

It has a sequel. It's Called Huckleberry Finn. It's even better than the first because it as pirates in it!

I can't imagine why anyone would want to ban such books.

The only reason for it is pure ignorance.
