This is really scary, but at least these guys weren't the smartest...I mean seriously, one posted on FB, one posted on Instagram, and the other guy told his gf he was going to shoot up 100 people. WTF??? Are they all in it for the "shock" value?

  • In Connecticut, 22-year-old man was arrested after authorities said he had expressed interest in committing a mass shooting on Facebook
  • A man in Daytona Beach, Florida, was arrested in a Winn-Dixie parking lot on Friday after telling his gf that a good 100 kills would be nice'
  • In Ohio, 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly threatening to carry out a shooting at a Youngstown Jewish community center.

I hope that we, as a nation, are taking these things much more seriously now. It's taken far too long, as it is, but better late than never.
 
We need to respect the police and let them do their jobs

It's one thing to advocate for positive voluntary intervention for people who may be in need.

Threatening and planning mass murder is absolutely a crime and always has been. If you'd like to see it otherwise you can head off to a country where it isn't.

How stupid and uneducated does someone have to be to think that's a constitutionally protected right?
 
Once again we're reminded that the group classified as 'law abiding gun owners' includes a sub-group of those who haven't yet shot someone, but will.

Remember also that guns do not kill people. Bullets do.
 

If he posts on facebook about a mass shooting and a person reads it, but does not turn the poster in for bad thoughts, is this a conspiracy to commit murder?

I'm just wondering what kind of thoughts constitute actionable behavior.

Motor vehicle operators in the USA are 60% more likely to kill someone than gun operators in the USA. 40,000 vehicle deaths vs 24,000 gun deaths.

Guns are more numerous than vehicles.

Bullets kill people? Would this be like headlights killing people? Do the operators of these two general groups of devices have any culpability in the deaths that result? Should we be jailing only the guns of mass murderers?

Do either guns or cars (or bullets) kill anyone with no human guidance or error? Links?
 

There are 39,000 gun deaths. Almost the same as cars yet only a third of Americans own guns

There are about 100 million more guns than cars in the US.

Almost all traffic fatalities are accidental.

About 2/3 of all gun deaths are intentional suicides.

Yes virtually the same number killed when many Americans never even touch a gun but all of us are in cars every day

I suppose we're lucky that the gun suicides are committed by gun rather than auto.

The despair of the suicide victims must be immeasurable. So sad...

Hi, and thanks for taking time to post a response. In answer to your question, you've nicely stated the problem in your question.

In instances of gunshot, there are, almost without exception, three components. There's the bullet, the gun from which it's fired and the shooter who operates the mechanism of the gun. I don't believe I've left anything out.

Now, in order to eliminate deaths and woundings by gunshot, one or more components must be eliminated.

I, for one, would not feel comfortable in suggesting that we eliminate people.

It is not legal to make threats to murder people. That this has to be explained to you people like it's a new concept further proves Trump supporters are ignorant children.
