I believe these charges were subsequently dropped, but consider it a sign of the times. This is where the trans ideologues want to take us: criminal prosecution for using the “wrong” pronouns:

So many are authoritarians at heart. It will be interesting to see how far the left (that is, public school systems) go with this. This is a major step.

I don’t think they’re free to do this, yet. The charges were dropped, so at some point an adult took over.I think the left is miscalculating here - you can hear DeSantis saying "compelled speech", and that resonating with a lot of people. I think it's going to be a net negative for the left as they 'champion' trans rights. It's the same with CRT (or whatever anti-white sentiment should be called) in the schools.
It's a bit concerning though that public schools are free to do this.
Right or wrong, individually, authoritarianism is easier. You just do what you're told. You don't have to think about certain things, and that takes things off your plate to worry about. So many are authoritarians at heart.
As bad as those events were, they pale in comparison to the horrors inflected by Marxism over the last 100 years.Right or wrong, individually, authoritarianism is easier. You just do what you're told. You don't have to think about certain things, and that takes things off your plate to worry about.
As I have argued before... while I do NOT believe that authoritarianism and Socialism is the answer, can you blame the younger generation for thinking that way considering what has happened in the last 22 years (9/11, school shootings rise, Iraq War, War in Terror, inflation, 1/6, etc...) and Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden all leaving the country worse off than it was when they went into office?

I didn’t say it was. I sad that is where this is heading if the trans Stasi get their way. This is not a criminal referral.
Whether or not they were deliberately using the wrong pronouns, charging a bunch of kids with sexual harassment for something like this is way over the top.
There's many ways they could have chosen to discipline before resorting to something so extreme. Why not give them detention, or have a teacher explain to the students why what they did was wrong?

I’m sure you have a feeling. When you have facts, let us know. That the case was so quickly dropped is a fact that should tell you something.I have a feeling there's a lot more to this story than pronouns. But cool headlines, bro - certainly got someone's attention.
Non stop ridicule, for any reason, is itself a form of harassment. The “correctness” of the pronouns is not the issue there. What if someone is transgender, makes it clear what pronouns they want to use, and then becomes the object of nonstop ridicule? And what if this has been brought to the teacher's attention, and the teacher did nothing? What if this has been brought to the administration's attention, and the administration did nothing? If the intent is to harass, that's harassment, and not just a case of "Pass it to him, er, they."
Or the thin end of a wedge. Best to beat back bad public policy when it emerges and before it starts doing real damage.More than likely, it's a sensationalized headline to grab someone's attention. Looks like it worked.
Title IX covers more than just date rape.
I agree with what you're saying, and I think there's a good chance we don't know the whole story. But we can only go by what we know and a quick search through a few other articles on this doesn't reveal much else. If it turns out what the students did went far beyond what the article says I may take back my words. But in general I don't think people should be punished for life for things they did as children, and sexual harassment charges are the kinds of things that stick with you.I have a feeling there's a lot more to this story than pronouns. What horrors have you yourself experienced because of Marxism? As bad as those events were, they pale in comparison to the horrors inflected by Marxism over the last 100 years.
Education is the answer. Alas, what we now find ourselves fighting against in our public schools is indoctrination.
and sexual harassment charges are the kinds of things that stick with you.
Why would my answer be at all relevant to this discussion? Do I need to have a close family member among the millions slaughtered by Marxist regimes to be concerned about Marxism? What horrors have you yourself experienced because of Marxism?

You are trying to move the goal posts. The chargers were incorrect pronoun use as itself a form of harassment. Not harassment that happened to use incorrect pronouns. So does the trauma from nonstop harassment - that sticks with you, too.
I don't know if that's what happened but the reporting seems pretty sloppy, which makes me skeptical. There seems to be mostly one side of the story being told here.
Yet.No, refusal to use "preferred pronouns" is not a criminal violation.
There is no such thing as "compelled" speech in the USA. This isn't Canada.
Even if it rises to the level of harrassment that we need to be concerned out - and it’s not clear that name-calling does - it is not sexual discrimination so it is not a Title IX issue.I have a feeling there's a lot more to this story than pronouns.
