Horse face lol.........

We will see how this one ends. If it ever started that is.

Former President Trump on Saturday suggested that the Manhattan DA was tricked by "Star" witness Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer who was disbarred after pleading guilty in 2018 to multiple felony charges, including 5 counts of tax evasion, lying to a financial institution, lying to congress, and two campaign finance violations.

In addition to Cohen's credibility issues, a 2018 letter emerged last week in which Cohen's lawyer tells the Federal Election Commission that Cohen used his own funds to make a $130,000 'hush' payment to Ms. Stephanie Clifford (Stormy Daniels aka "Horse Face"), and that Trump did not reimburse him for it.

Following a Saturday night rally in Waco, Texas, Trump told reporters on his plane: "I think they’ve already dropped the case … they have absolutely nothing."

"It’s a fake case. Some fake cases, they have absolutely nothing," Trump continued.

The former president made a similar statement earlier Saturday, writing:

"The Manhattan D.A. Witch Hunt against me is DEAD, no evidence at all, & it has been conclusively proven that I did nothing wrong!"

"The evidence against their “Star” witness, however, is overwhelming. An already disbarred lawyer & convicted Felon, the only question left is will the D.A.s Office sue him for lying & fraud. They should!"

I'm sure what he did was illegal but I could really care less about this one. The "perfect phone calls" to Georgia government officials to "find him votes" should send him to jail. Trying to intimidate election officials is a disgrace and an abuse of his office. He shouldn't be allowed to run just based on those calls. Him calling them "perfect" is just another lie among thousands.

Stromy is a bit squat but horse faced?

There is every chance that Trump will not be indicted by Bragg...not this week, not next week or the week after.

There is little understanding for what the Manhattan DA generally is doing regardless of who is in the position. The Manhattan DA is most involved in financial crimes because Wall St is in Manhattan. It is literally that simple. It would not be at all unusual for a Manhattan DA to prosecute a Misdemeanor financial crime because it is what it is. I actually have come around to thinking that even if Bragg can't make it to a felony charge associated with the Misdemeanor, bringing even a Misdemeanor charge still has value:
- first because financial crimes are what the Manhattan DA does day in and day out and the country needs to understand that
- second because the Misdemeanor charge v Trump would stick easily
- third because actually Indicting Trump even for a Misdemeanor would give us the means to understand EXACTLY how the body politic responds to a Trump indictment and we could stop tossing about speculation about this group doing this and that and so on and so on. We would have an actual example because while there are those here that still claim there is nothing to see in the Mar-a-lago docs case, the J6 case, the Fulton County GA case, the phony electors case, there is more than enough evidence that there is lots to see there. So get used to it folks. Trump has got a long long road to go in legal issues regardless of what the Manhattan DA does. We could use this case to understand how great the threat is of riots and the sort springing from the Trump Indictments to come and prepare accordingly
- Fourth because there is no reason not to bring the Misdemeanor charge in spite of the Barr DoJ dropping the ball and the Garland DoJ not picking it up. The Garland DoJ had plenty on its plate and still does and there is no question that there were some bad influences involved in SDNY's initial case not the least of which was Bill Barr himself. As much as I despise Donald Trump's fixer Cohen, he was hung out to dry by SDNY....there is no question in my mind that he was hung out to dry.

As for Costello, the purported Cohen attorney that rushed into Grand Jury last week to muddy up the waters even more than they were anyway:
I have issues with the Grand Jury process in NY:
- first a NY Grand Jury has between 16 and 23 members. Pick a number New York. Just pick a single damned number
- I have for lay people defined the Grand Jury as a process designed to gain probable cause to Indict. That is not really true....just my effort to avoid the more complicated answer
- A Grand Jury receives evidence from the Prosecutor designed to gain a MAJORITY vote for the guilt of the target, as opposed to a unanimous vote up or down by a Jury of 12 to convict a defendant
- In NY, the prosecutor does invite the target to come in and be deposed before the Grand Jury. Not sure this makes much sense
- In NY, the target might be allowed to offer a witness that contests the Prosecutor's case even at the point of just seeking Indictment. Not sure this much makes much sense either.

It has been reported that as part of his testimony to the Grand Jury Costello offered that he did not understand why the DA only focused on 6 of the documents he had provided as part of his submittal to the Grand Jury and further offered to the GJ members that they should look at all of the documents he provided. That IMO is over the limits of what should be allowed in a Grand Jury.

So I think the NY Grand Jury process leaves much to be desired. But this is yet another example of how hard prosecution whether by a DA for the State or a Federal Prosecutor for DoJ actually is by design. Without even the benefit of defense counsel, a single witness for the target has caused something of a kerfuffle just in the Grand Jury.

Here we are all innocent until proven guilty by the unanimous vote up or down by a Trial Jury of our peers. I say "here" because this is not the way it is in many countries including Russia where many many cases do not involve Jury's and are decided by Judges literally resulting in a 99% conviction rate and a moving target of criminal law that moves more and more crimes by type into a category that does not allow Jury trial.

I agree. this is a terrible test case for prosecuting a former executive.

The more Trump whinges about things, the more of a threat he considers them. That's true of whether it's people or processes.

Yep. That's the one that I'm most interested in since it happened when he was still in office.

Last week Trump predicted he would be indicted…..🤷
...and arrested. It seems he can't keep his narrative straight. One day he's going to be indicted and arrested, the next it's a case that has nothing to charge him.
:ROFLMAO:

a single witness for the target has caused something of a kerfuffle just in the Grand Jury.
We don't actually know if that's got anything to do with these delays.

I totally agree. I'm really hoping the reason NY hasn't indicted is out of deference to the bigger cases, like Georgia, which deserves so much more attention. As a Georgian, I'm 100% sure an indictment is coming. Kemp will never live it down if he doesn't follow through on this long investigation, and he knows it.

Just what he said to the GJ would cause something of a kurfuffe. "You need to look at all these Hundreds of other documents." Not sure if he said it in response to a question or just blurted it out. Whatever...it's not helpful in a GJ setting.

Whether it causes a delay or not is a different story. Depends on how the Grand Jury decides to handle his comment.

But you have to prove he meant to fabricate votes as opposed to find votes that were either cast for him and not counted or votes counted but cast illegally. Presently that will be the real problem for a prosecutor. If the left really had anything it would have been out there before now.

It would be out there how? We don't know what Bragg has in NY do we? So how do we suddenly leap to "we would know what Willis has in Georgia? Just because?

Worth noting that the Georgia vote had already been certified when Trump asked Raffensperger to "find 11,780 votes". How was Ratffensperger supposed to do that without breaking Georgia Law?
