“I am proud to stand for greater equality for all staff,” U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said in a statement accompanying the announcement.

The United Nations is now providing full benefits to all staffers in legal same-sex marriages, regardless if their country of citizenship officially recognizes their union, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced Monday. Previously, the U.N. only recognized marriages from countries where same-sex unions are legal.
The new policy quietly went into effect June 26 and only impacts those at the U.N. secretariat, which employs about 43,000 staffers worldwide. Other U.N. organizations, including UNESCO and the World Food Program, already recognized employees in same-sex unions regardless of where they took place, according toHuffington Post.
“Human rights are at the core of the mission of the United Nations,” Ki-moon said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “I am proud to stand for greater equality for all staff, and I call on all members of our UN family to unite in rejecting homophobia as discrimination that can never be tolerated at our workplace.”
The UN-GLOBE, which represents LGBT U.N. employees, welcomed the announcement but told Huffington Post that further barriers remained.

How on earth do you find an equivalent between consenting adults marrying one another and victimizing a child? You will never have that right, because she will always have the right to not be abused. Perhaps you would do well to understand that other people have rights as well.

What defines what is an adult and what are children? I've seen adults that couldn't take on responsibilities that an 11 year old could.

Nice word, isn't it? Now, why is the age of consent so high for sex when the age when a girl can seek an abortion without her parent's permission so low?

Why would do you want to break down legal consenting ages? Do you not see them as a necessary barrier to protect the children? And again how does this equate to a legal binding contract between two consenting adults? Are you make false comparisons? It sure does seem so.

Now you want to get into the legal aspects of it? Why do you want to break down the laws forbidding same sex marriage?
If you can say the nature has made you gay, then I can say that nature made girls breedable when they reach puberty. That we put an age on it is another one of man's fallacies. Since we can't have laws that say gays can't marry then why do we still have laws that 11 year old girls that have reached puberty can't have consensual sex?
After all, nature knows her business, right?
