So Musk is stepping back more fully into Tesla, leaving DOGE. Operation complete.
Well, wait a minute. Not so much.
He came in talking TWO TRILLION in cuts. Well thank God that wasn’t the case but it dies mean his $160B falls far short of that.
But wait another minute. It it really $160B, because anyone with any business smarts knows the real meat and potatoes isn’t this cursory number but the TCO. The total cost of what it means to own something. Our ownership of DOGE is $135B and maybe a lot more. You see when you add up the lost productivity, the cost of having to shut down things then ramp them back up, and other such bits of business DOGE has been an expensive proposition.
That’s not counting the loss of US prestige, our good will, reputation among our allies and world standing.
Nor does it count the cost of all these law suits not yet settled caused by DOGE. That $135B could go way up. DOGE may end up not only not saving us any money. It could cost the US taxpayer in the end.

You know who made money and other stuff on DOGE? Elon Musk.
Three law suits filed by US government regulatory agencies against Musk’s companies, dropped. Regulatory oversight, cancelled. $300M in new government contracts.
Yeah, Musk did real good.
Suckers… you got played.

DOGE says it has saved $160 billion. Those cuts have cost taxpayers $135 billion, one analysis says.
The push by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency to slash federal funding will cost taxpayers money, nonpartisan group finds. Here's why.
